The book banning school in Manchester has now been named, the Lowry Academy. Some of the books have been returned to the shelves but not all. Glad to hear CILIP are supporting the librarian ://www.indexoncensorship.org/2026/03/greater-manchester-school-library-censorship-who-is-accountable/

Some of you may know that I curate a huge reading list if Palestinian fantasy, science fiction, and horror. It is not up to date… Please comment if you identify as Palestinian, or if you know of something that should be in the list! Please share for visibility. soniasulaiman.com/readpalestin...

The @ibbyuk.bsky.social committee has revealed the books chosen as this year's UK Honour Books, including books in Welsh alongside books in English. This is the first time books in Welsh have been included. #KidLitUK

📚 What are historical “facts,” and who gets to interpret them?
We’ll explore these questions at our conference on November 8th!

I welcome the news that the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has lost her appeal and failed to block the legal challenge to the proscription of Palestine Action. The Judicial Review will now go ahead on 25-27 November, with two additional grounds to challenge the ban’s legality. This is a huge win for civil liberties and our right to protest. We must continue to defend our rights against Keir Starmer’s authoritarian Labour government.

The report featured in the Guardian today on the inclusion of women in hustory lessons is really important - lets make women’s voices heard and their actions remembered. www.history.org.uk/secondary/ca...
And still, Keir Starmer’s government arms Israel, enables its genocide in Gaza and hasn’t even expelled the Israeli Ambassador.
Shame on him.
We all know *the person* in No. 10 who thought they were playing 5D chess by reviving Enoch Powell’s fascistic phrase “island of strangers”.
Keir Starmer approved it — then parroted it.
Shame on all their houses.
The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech is sickening.
That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk.
Shame on you, Keir Starmer.
Netanyahu — wanted by the ICC for war crimes — has declared plans to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and annex Gaza.
This follows 64 days of starving a besieged population by blocking food and aid.
The UK must implement a full arms embargo and expel the Israeli Ambassador NOW.
We’ll be at Nunhead Cemetery Open Day on Sat, 17th May! 🎬 Come meet the team, learn about the festival & get involved! See you there! #PNFFF
If you missed the documentary about the children of Gaza shown last Monday that the BBC has now taken down you can view it here drive.google.com/file/d/1Q7v-...
The UK welcomes Ukrainians but shuts out Palestinians — even as UK-made weapons fuel their genocide.
Safe routes for some; moral panic and cruelty for others.
There’s a name for that: anti-Palestinian racism.
This will be the 26th review of adult social care.
In 2028 we can expect the 27th.
Well, will you look at this can in the long grass.

If we care about the future of our children - we need a library & a librarian in every single school, to help every single child find the books that will make them lifelong readers! Libraries & librarians create the readers of the future! #libraries #librarians #literacy
