Vote Labour, get Reform

One of the many things I love about @zackpolanski.bsky.social and the @greenparty.org.uk is they want to build a better, fairer country for everyone.
It's refreshing when Labour, Tory and Reform seem completely disinterested in helping so many different communities and groups of people.
“The cost of living crisis is real. That’s why we’re focusing on things that will have an immediate effect - freezing rents and scrapping council tax to replace it with a land value tax so those with more wealth pay their fair share.”
Anthony Slaughter on BBC Wales' Ask the Leaders broadcast
Extraordinary that nowhere in an article on resilience did PM find space to include the growing threat posed to UK security by the dramatic decline in the health of nature around the world - especially since his own intelligence chiefs have recently spelt it out for him in no uncertain terms 👇
Pennycooks opposition to rent controls was welcomed by Kurt Mueller - Britain's largest listed private landlord
Labour's housing minister's opposition to rent controls welcomed by the country's largest private landlord.
Who's side are Labour on? Renters or landlords. The answer is here.
Trump threatens to end US-UK trade deal because UK won't join his illegal Iran war.
There is no special relationship. It is subservience to the US.
Don't make agreements with Trump. He doesn't honour them.
The King's visit should be cancelled.
UK must rejoin the EU, build alliances with others.
Bridget Phillipson and the Labour Party are doubling down on far-right rhetoric and unlawful guidance.

It's wild how Green messaging is denigrated as "populism" when this conveys more socio-political empathy and nuance than most things I've seen in decades
So this article from the latest Private Eye states that Teesside Freeport is going to close down.
I have said all along that free zones are Ponzi schemes for the asset classes in rip-off Britain.

A UN official is exactly right - the world has not forgotten Sudan; it has abandoned people facing a horrific scale of genocide

Years ago I had to make a sexual harassment case against my line manager and part of his defence was that I wasn't actually gay, and so part of the investigation involved having to demonstrate I was. Can't tell you how humiliating that was.
pretty much as soon as a transphobe opens their mouth it’s obvious their ‘arguments’ are nothing more than a flimsy superstructure over a core of disgust. generations to come will look back on this era with amused horror at how governments and courts took this pea-brained garbage seriously
This thread contains proportional recounts of the four Commons divisions held in the debate on the Children's Wellbeing and Schools bill today.
All but one changed result.

I spoke to the Guardian for this piece 👇
Life as an F1 past and present, what has changed beyond recognition and what has stayed the same?
Consultant rheumatologist Anisur Rahma was an F1 in 1989, and Sarah Al Saad is an F1 now. They imagine a correspondence between their F1 selves, 36 years apart.

The top 2% of households in Scotland have more wealth than the bottom 50% combined.
Taxing the rich fairly would allow real investment in our shared public services, infrastructure and environment.
Absolutely brilliant work from @anthonyslaughter.bsky.social right now on BBC Your Voice Live.
In 22 days, Wales will vote in the Senedd elections.

The increase in humanitarian aid to Sudan announced today is absolutely welcome, but we must go further- use every lever to prevent further atrocities, stop illicit trade which fuels the conflict, and hold those responsible for war crimes to account.
Scotland is an outlier compared to most other developed nations.
Raising the school starting age to 7 and introducing a play-based kindergarten stage for 3 to 6 year olds would help boost education and child wellbeing outcomes.
22 days until local elections.

Can anyone point me to the costings for right wing parties. We always get asked for them on the left but I've never seen the costings for not renationalising water, for having to import qualified staff for the NHS or mass redundancies from government departments.
When Viktor Orbán changed Hungary's voting system - making it easier for the biggest party to win supermajorities with a minority of votes - it was understandably criticised as authoritarian.
So why is it that in the UK we accept an even more disproportional system as the norm?
Our political views are diverse. That's a good thing.
No one party speaks for the whole country, and our opinions cannot be reduced to a choice between two options.
It's time for a voting system that recognises this. It's time for Proportional Representation.
People before profit & the common good before elitism. That's what makes us in the green party tick

I agree with Zack Polanski on this - 100%. Hard to understand why it’s not been done already.
This is the mentality of genocide.
Good. Safety over judgementalism
I agree completely
