From my perspective as a Comanche woman, it looks like Warren is an average white woman from Oklahoma (no different from both Liberals & Conservatives) who is unaware and unconcerned of the impact of her behavior on actual Indigenous people because she thinks of us as a stereotype or a museum piece.
Both "sides" have made racist jokes about Pocahontas, one of the first Murdered and Missing Indigenous women, scalping, etc that have caused more harm to Indigenous women than they have ever done to Warren herself.
I was a big fan of her work as an economist, particularly "The Two-Income Trap".
But she has made a series of choices that have caused harm to Indigenous people, and she has consistently ducked taking responsibility.
Tribes are not interchangeable. She claimed Cherokee, but cannot name her Cherokee relatives and is not involved culturally. Tribal genealogists found no known ancestors with any tie to the Cherokee Nation. The female ancestor she claimed was Cherokee was shown to have been born in Germany.
AFTER tribal genealogists determined she had no Cherokee ancestry & Trump dared her to take a DNA test, The Cherokee Nation implored her publicly not to take the bait because of the harm it would do to the already dicey public understanding of citizenship, and guess who she listened to.

You're somebody for sure. But Blood Quantum is such a contentious issue we are still fighting about it, but it was not traditional and is yet another thing that was imposed by the US government

and knew no more about any Native culture than a white person from Massachusetts or New Jersey. Still all of them claimed "Cherokee blood" though not Cherokee citizenship. Even though Cherokee citizenship is lineal and has no blood quantum requirement. It does require one thing, proof.
I don't know how many white people told me they were "more Native" than I was, that they knew all about Natives, grew up with Natives, etc, but they didn't speak a Native language, had never been to a pow wow or a Native persons home, (Cont.)
