It's amazing that, for a 'character guy', MJF is probably more flexible as a wrestler than he is on the mic. His character is SO static. I can't rightfully make fun of Cody "Finish the Story that Isn't Actually a Story" Rhodes and not make fun of MJF in the same way.
I'm really dwelling on how much better this story would be if Kenny didn't give the ring back. That in desperation, MJF just worked Kenny's intestinal stomach wound. He did, but the ring flattens it. The ring KOs people all the time. Once the ring comes into play, you're just telling the same story.

Dump Matsumoto is one of the classic big ladies from the era. Like for big girls the top 3 people will think are basically her, Bull Nakano and Aja Kong.

So it's not longer really heat (at least for me), it's just a boring expectation. Welp, match can't end till some fuckery happens and nothing in the match leading up to the end matters. The question is only 'will or won't our hero overcome the villain's mcguffin?" It flattens the story.
Thing I like in Japanese wrestling is cheating almost never is the finish. It's like an interlude to the finish. You can argue, kayfabe wise, that it contributes to the face losing, but it makes the heel not seem like a fraud. Being a fraud could be good, but its been the heel standard for YEARS!
Perfect summation of MJF. It's not that he's not good, or talented, but you can't keep doing the same shtick in the same place over and over without burning it out. He copies old shit that worked cause the era allowed it to work differently.
