A few years ago I (definitely 'nerd') got some money for my birthday to bet on the NFL. I did well for a while until my team decided to crash and burn and I ended up losing it all. Years before that, I did something similar with online poker. Actually came out ahead there. It was fun, no regrets.

My kids still play my Xbox 360. I've wanted to get more modern Xbox, but they're so expensive it's hard to justify. We do also have a Switch since the cost of entry was reasonable.

As an audiobook narrator, I support this message! Any 'print' reading time I have goes to prepping for work. And the number of times I've been doing that and thought, 'I should get the audiobook to make this go faster,' before remembering that it didn't exist yet is... Let's just say non-zero. ;^)

Maybe, just maybe, there's more to being a well-rounded human being than just knowing how to do a particular job. Learning poetry may not help someone be a better victim's advocate (although it might!), but it could help them be a better person if they chose to let it.

Having a show or movie disappear from an app is a very annoying aspect of our modern media landscape. My wife and I generally need to watch a movie over several nights, and doing that over the start of a month risks the movie not being available for us to finish. Has happened more than once.

My kids are still playing my 360 (recently finished Castle Crashers).

The controllers are a real limiting factor. My original 1st party ones have mostly worn out and the 3rd party ones you can get these days don't hold up at all.

5 years?? Yikes. I kind of always intended to skip an XBox generation (post 360), but now I might be skipping two... That said, my kids are still playing games on my old 360 (and their Switch) and I'm mostly gaming on PC these days, so maybe I'm just out on XBox/PS consoles.
