That’s a tough lesson to learn.

I’ve never turned mine. I like to keep people guessing. When will I reply? In 5 minutes? A week? It’s unknowable.
You’re TV famous!!
People still give you paper copies?!? That’s kinda awesome

The main analysis is mean change on the treated? The control group feels slighted.
yes this is a classic! My favorite part is when the manager says he gets "better regressions" when he does this. Oh I bet he does!
One of my absolute favorites
This gives me life! So does this meme :)
Our faculty lounge also has a microwave and full sized fridge. We cleverly named it the mail room to hide it from state officials
I told a story at my lab meeting today about the time I met John Cougar Mellencamp…and none of my grad students had heard of him. I must be nearing the end of my days…
It feels like all of our graduate students are defending their dissertations this spring...and I am on all of their committees.
Yikes
Agree to disagree.
That's it! Makes sense to me now. Thanks - hope you've been well!
In IRT modeling, shouldn't the 1PL model have one more degree of freedom than the Rasch model? In the 1PL I am estimating a common discrimination parameter where the Rasch model sets it to 1. But the mirt package in R is saying they have the same number of parameters.
But not so sad that it would stop her from eating them :)
It was and continues to be absolutely brutal for Ed Science researchers
NRA accidentally forgets to rise up against tyrannical government
I’m pretty sure you want to keep that under your hat until AFTER they hire you :)
Under Pressure duet. I thought the David Bowie parts would be easier to sing. They were not.
OK. I guess I'll whip up some simulations to see how much violating the assumption of equilibrium and stationarity has on the model.
Ok. I've convinced myself that the RI-CLPM model is not appropriate for modeling constructs that are systematically growing/changing over time. These data don't meet the assumptions of the model. But I keep seeing it getting recommended for developmental studies. Am I missing something?
I love springing this fact on the first year grad students in my class just to see their reaction.
Genius. If I could convince people of the utility of Degrees of Non-Freedom I've got a number of under-identified models that I think would work great.
I may not know much, but I know a model with -5 degrees of freedom is not going to fly.
Thanks Jens! I appreciate that.
It was a crazy surreal experience.
I was teaching when the active shooter warning came. I can tell you the one thing I was not prepared for. Trying to determine if we should stay in the classroom and start building barricades vs. evacuating the classroom for a more defensible position. Was it safe to let my students in the hallway??
Everything outside is just covered in a fine yellow blanket of allergens…
