I think I might just start drawing characters and OCs however I want

I started using a new pencil brush to sketch; it looks nice but it covers up a lot of mistakes that I wouldn't settle with if I used a small mili pen. Any art lords wanna chime in to help me decide if I should commit to a mili pen or the sketchy pencil (FOR LEARNING ART)
