I've never seen happiness like this in my life. We know nothing in the imperial core. Nothing

Saying "people lived brutal, difficult lives with no free time before colonization set them free with technological advances" is officially crazy. The Yawanawa people live completely off the land and they have so much free time they spend like 5 hours a day drumming, singing and dancing
Crying into your steering wheel is the sign of a healthy society, actually.
The Amazon rainforest! In Acre :)
The river is a healer, the river is a sage The river knows no end and the river feels no age The river calls me over, it's calling out my name In the day and in the night, I hear that river all the same
The river is a healer
The river is a sage
The river knows no end
And the river feels no age
The river calls me over
It's calling out my name
In the day and in the night
I hear that river all the same
So far Brazil looks exactly like Mexico, and I'm once again struck by how interesting the infrastructural parallels across Latin America are. The street paint and design similarities are fascinating
It's weird seeing remote islands that have nothing on them except nature and an airplane landing strip. I hate that it makes me wonder which billionaire bought the island
The above name is an amalgam of 3 group chats I'm in cause I'd never expose the comrades directly
Hey @bsky.app this is key. I know people still using Twitter who will move over here the second they can move their "Trains, Butts & Peer-Reviewed Lit" group chats over here
I don't even live in the US and every time I hear a bunch of honking outside my window I think maybe It Happened

"If there is one documentary with the power to burst the AI bubble, itโs this one." - The Wrap
I wrote about how the Hasan Piker drama serves as a proxy fight between centrists and the left, and how it exposes the real priorities of Democrats like Cory Booker.
Red States: We are canceling all programs that don't support our theology.
Blue States: We're canceling all the same programs, but because they don't support our business school.

They're getting so bad it kinda worries me. I recently had to watch some for the first time in ages and half of them don't even make sense, tons are AI, it feels like cultural psychosis
That's wild because like, the people who make stuff do need to get paid somehow. I'm happy to pay for Dropout, less happy to pay for YouTube but I still do it because I watch it a lot and value my mental health, which every ad instantly drains from me like a flushed toilet
The lengths I go to to not be exposed to advertising are almost pathological. Like about the same level of precautions I take for my physical health, and for basically the same reasons
I donโt use genAI. Not just because I object to it, but because I donโt see any need. I write because I love writing. I use DuckDuckGo and LibreOffice because I donโt like the way that Google and Microsoft interfere with the process. GenAI brings nothing to the table that I want.
Scorsese: this cautionary tale will speak for itself

But behind the scenes, Israeli officials have conveyed a more targeted message. In private calls to local leaders across southern Lebanon, Israeli military officials have assured several Christian and Druse communities that they could remain in the evacuation zone. They have pressed them, however, to force out any Lebanese from neighboring Shiite Muslim communities who have sought refuge among them as Israeli bombardment flatten Shiite towns, according to local Christian, Druse and Shiite leaders who spoke to The New York Times. The Shiites make up the majority of southern Lebanon.

(He should have too)
Agreed. It's high camp and we need more of that in the world. She should have just become a drag queen
I don't think anyone should be so wealthy as to be able to own 3,000 guitars. To never even have seen some of your guitars, it's just. I mean.

Interestinggg. I think I need to work harder on getting over my hesitance to accept money from well-off but maladjusted weirdos tbh lol
Strongly agree. Decades of undereducated, overlooked men unironically worshipping the worst Scorsese characters has shown us that messaging has got to be more obvious. Subtlety doesn't work when there's no media literacy
