Go home day: AA 5132 IAH - DCA, on a CRJ-900 with the new cabin finishes. First impression is pretty nice, I like it.

Upgrade cleared at the gate - should be a good flight.

Flight 2: AA 2214 PHX - DCA on an A321. For some reason, equipment swapped from a NEO to a CEO so my MCE window seat turned into an aisle.

Doesn’t matter though as the gate upgrade came through 😎. Let’s go home.

Nothing quite like waking up at 2:30am to find your 5:00 departure delayed and connection already rebooked again 😐

Flight 2: AA2320 ORD-PHX on an A321. Currently first loser on the upgrade list so I’m in exit row 11A - excellent leg room and window view at least.

Already back at it: Flight 1 today, AA2152 DCA - ORD on a 737-800.

Thursday afternoons must be absolute peak for DCA - admirals club was packed, and this flight seems very elite heavy.

A middle seat in the exit row for me on this one.

Truly night and day from what I experienced at IAH this morning. I wonder what factors are making IAH (seemingly) uniquely bad?

One flight today: AA4766 IAH - DCA on a E175. Did same day confirmed changed yesterday and upgrade cleared right away.

Only 30 pax onboard - heard the gate agent say “we have everyone” which blows my mind, I wonder how early others got to the airport this morning.

Love me some shelf-stable AM/PM.

I clocked 90 mins from when I reached the end of the line on the subway level to being past the checkpoint.

Cannot believe I made my flight, literally with 2 minutes to spare - and that was including sprinting across the sky bridge from the south check point to A3F.

IAH terminal A screening currently 4+ hours as per PA announcement. Line extends all the way to the Marriot station on the subway thing.

Is 450 a marketing name, or are there airframe tweaks like the 550? I suspect the former?

IAH Terminal A was VERY different - TSA line wrapped the baggage claim level, federal agents doing line control on both levels.

I think I ended up in the background of a live shot for a Spanish-language news cast of some sort.

No issues getting through TSA at DCA Terminal 2 North at 5am today. I used touch-less pre check but all lines were short and moving.

News crews were setup, and it’s tragic that I’m not sure if they’re here to talk about the security staffing situation or the LGA collision.

Flight 2: Amtrak Northeast Regional 193 PHL-WAS.

While walking from baggage claim to recheck, AA delayed our PHL-DCA departure until after 10pm. Immediately bailed, cancelled the segment and booked Amtrak instead.

Should be home at the originally scheduled time 👍

The latter means free WiFi is active even on the transatlantic leg!

In PE today, should be a great flight with a light passenger load.

After a nice stay in the Flagship lounge, it’s time for flight 2: AA204 PHL-AMS on a 787-8 with the infamous Concept D seats.

I’m in rear-facing seat 4L, staring directly at the person in 4H so that’s fun

I ordered the Centennial Beef Wellington - so should be a good 6.5 hours!

Closeup of shower handle that has letters rotates about 90 degrees.

Some small critiques: position of the shower handle under the water flow, lack of a second seat / surface for belongings, and little details like the mis-rotated shower handle.

Overall 7.8/10. Behind things like QR Garden / CX F lounges that nail those little details, but still quite nice.
