it’s so cool how you just *know* this will result in republicans calling the election rigged because they’re too stupid to understand that every single vote cannot all be counted at this exact same time

Justice Alito made the same criticism of mail ballots during last month's oral argument in Watson v. RNC

Specifically he complained about ballots that arrive after Election Day and “radically flip” the “apparent outcome”

ain't no outcome before ballots are in!

Why Democrats with 2028 hopes are calling Lina Khan – and what she’s telling them about remaking the economy | CNN Politics Lina Khan is getting constant calls from Democrats, many of them thinking about presidential runs, to sound out problems and workshop potential solutions. That’s a shift from when she was Federal Trad...

If you want to lead our party (and lead our country), then of course you should be calling Lina Khan.

Let's stand up to out-of-control monopolies. Let's rein in unchecked corporate power. Democrats should be the party that fights for working people.

the free market libertarian think tank guys who suffer embolisms every time the government attempts to protect consumers in ANY way are always weirdly quiet in these bailout moments; no lengthy treatises or anything

Dying in office because you insisted on clinging to power until the very end instead of letting a new generation of leaders rise should be seen for the shameful, egomaniacal act that it is.

This isn’t just stupid, it’s malicious beyond belief. They want people to die.

If tech oligarchs can't find their escape from the annoyance of politics, where they (for now) don't have the Final Say In Everything, they would very much like to end politics here on earth. It's the next best thing.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Peter Thiel wrote his infamous 2009 libertarian manifesto six months after Barack Obama and Democrats swept into power.

More than that, the FBI paid tons of informants who infiltrated the Klan.

For one famous example, Gary Thomas Rowe was a paid FBI informant who was present at the murder of Viola Liuzzo.

But there were so many more. By one estimate, in 1965 a full 15% of the Mississippi KKK were paid informants.

Well yep starting an unnecessary war you can’t win and then scurrying away with your tail between your legs doesn’t send a *strong* signal that you will be able to respond adequately to real challenges when they occur…

It's very good Dems won the redistricting fight. Necessary, even given 3 things we can't think enough about:
1. Musk reprising 2024 & other billionaires copying him
2. Alito possibly gutting the VRA, putting 19 seats from the South up for the GOP to grab
3. The regime already interfering with votes

The implicit media consensus is that urban voters should not be able to overrule rural voters, but that rural voters should be able to overrule urban voters, an assumption so axiomatic and unquestionable that nobody even understands they're making it.

The number of Republicans crashing out about getting nakedly gerrymandered is, unironically, a sign that we need to do more of it. You guys are correct! This shit sucks! Welcome to the party, pals! We can all stop doing it any time you like!

Everyone knows the way you change the Constitution is to have six people in robes make up a new Constitution as they go along.

DeSantis successfully eliminated two democratic districts represented by Black lawmakers that helped stack the House for republicans despite a FL constitutional ban on gerrymandering that diminishes minority votes. The FL Supreme Court initially rejected his 2022 map. Then upheld the gerrymander.

If it was up to the national Democratic Party nothing WOULD have happened. State level is obviously different

The way Virginia and California have gone about this is not even in the same realm as red states that chop up congressional districts for the sole purpose of diluting the vote of black and brown communities. Dems put expirations dates on their gerrymanders too.

Need to take a blow torch to scotus to do anything. And all their corruption is the best avenue to do it

22 hours ago 0 0 0 0

i guess it depends on how we define blowing it. the thing that makes me feel like “yeah the Ds are likely to dominate and i’m not at all sure how much good they’ll be able to do vs stopping the horror” is SCOTUS. but one could argue “not going to war with scotus = blowing it” ofc
