When Angela Rayner *unintentionally*....

It was a preferential ballot. The losers votes are distributed amongst the others until one has 50%.

I voted for Lisa Nandy. You are doing her a disservice: she is a lot more than not Rebecca.

The far side, which is no darker than the near side - just at different times.

I agree, and with most of the comments. May is likely a blood bath. But changing leader is conceding defeat nationally. Good stuff is being done, keep calm and carry on. The more that the contenders make it obvious they want the job, the less I want them to get it. Games of thrones ending needed.

“Every hour so many damn things in the sky! How in hell did those bombers get up there every single second of our lives! Why doesn’t someone want to talk about it! We’ve started and won two atomic wars since 2022! Is it because we’re having so much fun at home we’ve forgotten the rest of the world? Is it because we’re so rich and the rest of the world’s so poor and we just don’t care if they are? I’ve heard the rumors; the world is starving, but we’re well fed. Is it true, the world works hard and we play? Is that why we’re hated so much? ... Maybe the books can get us half out of the cave. They just might stop us from making the same damn insane mistakes!”

Midway through Fahrenheit 451, we learn that the U. S. government has launched a series of unprovoked wars against smaller countries, just because it can, while the population is so hypnotized by amusements & devices that hardly anyone knows the wars are taking place.

I've seen this and am tempted but haven't yet dipped my toe. Will it really save me from a confused mix of onenote, trello, open notepad tabs, colornote on phone, outlook tasks and maybe even Jira? Or will it just be yet another thing that sits alongside all the above?

Reform desperate to equalise the labour and green vote. They know labour is ahead of the greens in spite of the hype. Labour candidate is local hard working councillor. Means a lot. I also think large bets have been laid to tweak the odds so greens look like the tactical vote when they aren't.

Reform appears to have a freephone number.
It would be really wrong to abuse this or keep them on the line for absolutely ages.....or ask for more "literature" which costs them to send....

Thank you for the likes but it appears I have fallen into the trap of believing what it says on social media without fact checking. Sorry. This not true.

The second half of her sentence is right actually. We need to stop seeing this behaviour as seediness and recognise it for what it is: criminality. Why are the mens' names redacted in the Epstein files? Why aren't they giving all the details of what they saw to the police?

It's not true though.

Bookies base their odds on bets made. They just make sure they don't make a loss whatever the result. It isn't exactly surprising that more people are betting on green and reform to win, it doesn't make it more likely to happen.

Tweet from Ambassador Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun: "Ignorance like this cheapens the horror of the Holocaust. Anne Frank was in Amsterdam legally and abided by Dutch law. She was hauled off to a death camp because of her race and religion. Her story has nothing to do with the illegal immigration, fraud, and lawlessness plaguing Minnesota today.

Our brave law enforcement should be commended, not tarred with this historically illiterate and antisemitic comparison."

Also note, the Green is only local if you look from the distance of London. Hale is a whole different world from urban east Manchester and Tameside.

This. Disappointed lefties (like myself) please don't give Farage a leg up just because you want to express your disappointment. The labour candidate, selected from a strong list by local members, will make a better constituency MP than Burnham would have. If she gets the chance.

Betting odds are driven by two things. One is a guess of the objective probability of an outcome. The other is how much £ has been bet for each outcome. Many will be betting on a green win not because they have the data but because they like the idea. Bookies are covering their backs not predicting.

Is it not pretty natural? Being a councillor is probably the most relevant experience that there is for the job?

With respect, you know very well that Starmer wants your vote, and they realised they got it wrong on disability benefit cuts. Later than they should have, but not too late. So you can still choose who you vote for, just as a bunch of people in the states decided Harris was not what they wanted.

Another case of "not news". I mean "Starmer is immortal" would be a rather more surprising headline.
