It’s this. Higher Education is not “left leaning” by choice, it’s the nature of knowledge. It turns out the more educated and well-rounded people are, the more left leaning they tend to be. MAGA and alt right politics only thrive in environments where people are uninformed and uncritical.
The gutting of our federal workforce is awful for many reasons, but the loss of jobs spans far beyond just that set of people. I’ve also been out of FT work for nearly two years thanks to the state of the economy due to this admin—and I’m def not the only one. There are no jobs, for anyone.
