Thankfully, I landed a good full-time job at (ironically?) a regional government agency!

(Ahem) 14.6% in your dreams, if you're a freelancer or gig worker. When I was a freelancer my taxes were 35–45%. During those 6 years, despite coughing up 1/3 to NEARLY HALF my earnings to the government AND NOT earning Social Security funds because SS doesn't pay self employed, 14% seems wonderful.
This one is nothing less than brilliant
Oh my goodness, ^^^ this. Yes, I'm afraid that's the truth.
Priorities, y'know…
What's it gonna take for the Democrats in Senate and House to finally grow a spine? How much worse does it have to get?
This answers my question: I've missed YOU!
@mofiguls.bsky.social !!! We need to grab some coffee together!
Delightful! Linoleum cut?

Shiva sulks upon realizing a line of wine bottles has formed a wall between him and my laptop and monitor.
No, I am not drinking on the job. This is the only way I can keep Mr Shiva Kitty from sitting on my computer while I'm working. (I only allow him to do so during Zoom meetings.)

Are going to see them this Wednesday, Patricia?
Oops, I meant to type "the bizarre *secrecy*…"
Makes me now curious as to who are all the comedians who turned down the invitation. Who knows, I may end up being a fan of theirs.
Just as Nazi soldiers couldn't get away with, "I was only doing my job," the day will come when these fascist thugs will face the same outcome.
Meanwhile, may you and your family find strength and be loved.
Thank you, Dr Maalouf, for making public this horrifying experience. To me, the bizarre secretary around your husband's arrest, and even release, underscores the fact that the individuals who are supposed to protect us are not merely following orders, they are complicit to crimes against humanity.
I should clarify that I'm referring to those who God named in his article. TBH I've barely even heard of most of the others because so many comedians in recent years turned me off to stand-up. There's a very fine line between astute, thought-provoking social commentary and just being a mouthy jerk.
They were already dead to me by being TERFs, sex offenders, etc.
Imagining tens of millions of Americans running to their closest railroad track to squish it.

Oh *I* feel bad: I feel bad for their underpaid employees who are kidnapped and sent out of the country to jails that make Kafka's "In the Penal Colony" read like a tour brochure. But the farmers? Nah. Come Nov 2026, I wonder how many will still have heads in the sand and vote yet again for Repubs.

It's great! And it's not asking me to edit your profile. No shenanigans from me, oh well.
But the music is fabulous.

So, IBM not only shuts down their DEI research team, they delete their decades of collected data on the subject.
Don't be surprised by this: this is the same IBM who supported the Nazis, back in the day.
Hmmm, I suppose my lack of dental cavities (I know, right??) must explain why I tested at a piddly 147 IQ.

I don't believe "house" is an accurate translation — to me, it feels more like home for the heart and soul, the seat of one's core being. But I don't speak Nahuatl, so I can't say for certain. If you have a different translation, I welcome your sharing.
Hi Itztliehecatl, current US politics made me wonder how people of pre-colonial times named the gulf. I searched through various tribal websites and maps, and Wikipedia. I haven't yet found this info about Northern coast tribes, but the wiki references Nahuatl-speaking Aztecs.
And is is just me, or does the gulf look like a schnauzer?
Map of Gulf of Mexico, with both Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of America labels crossed out. The names are surrounded by this text: "Um, actually… Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl (Mexica Nahuatl for "House of Chalchiuhtlicue," Chalchiuhtlicue being the deity of the seas)."
Oops, created/posted this 2 wks ago on IG; meant to share here as well. Given that Google & most others still take it in keister for Felon47, it is sadly still relevant.
(Granted, Mayans, Northern gulf tribes & other pre-col non-Aztecan ppl likely also had their own names for this body of water.)
