Even if I'm not really the target audience for marathon's gameplay loop, they sure as fuck have sold me on an art book and soundtrack so far.

Well fabulous work so far! Really enjoying it! Looking forward to whatever you end up working on next

Is heresy the last of the stuff you worked on for destiny, or are there more ghost hazels in the machine?

I like Gen 9 an awful lot due to its shake up in structure, and the area zero sequence is one of the best in the series, but God the performance issues make it harder to return to / hard to recommend.

This is it. Whenever I see a post and they mention "I left at whatever expansion" that was years ago. I just don't get it. Brother why are you posting about a game you quit years ago, please take up knitting or something god damn

Not sure what to call it other than buyers/quitters remorse. I'm not playing as much at the moment (I think episode structure is a huge step down from seasons) but all the things I like are still there. The way people carry on you'd swear Tyson Green shot their dog

All of this requires upfront investment, in a studio that downsized by 40% in a year. Sony would need to pony up the upfront costs, and I think that's a hard sell.

I didn't say the above to be inflammatory or "defend Bungie" I genuinely think it's just an impractical route to go down at the moment

.... changes in beyond light. What's a better use of time, new client (which now forks, probably requires updates etc etc) As you say you already paid for it.
-it's easier to justify costs of maintaining infra than spinning up new infra, especially in a game that is currently in a downswing...

In the ol' Cloud Ops business myself but a few things
-we are making a lot of assumptions about their stack. We can't speak to what the cost is infra wise
- if we are investing the devs to spruce up and repackage, why not just make it available in the main game. The break point is the engine ....

That seems like an insane investment. Separate servers, separate game client to support, essentially separate game, just to make it free to onboard to another "free" game? I just don't think it's practical, as much as I'd like vaulted content to return. You also end up with the realm reborn problem.

Any initial ideas on how to fix it? I think more investment in timeline reflections (abridged campaigns with the first and last mission, and 1 mission per season with a cutscene supercut) is a good start on the story side, but still doesn't teach you destiny's flow.

And as a "patch job" for loot until rarities come along, leave everything craftable, remove enhancement from crafted weapons. People who want, "good enough" can get the god rolls they want, insane people like me can keep chasing their 5/5 random drops

The old seasonal format was totally fine and stable, and requesting Bungie change business/release model every few years because the community are "bored", is insane. As you said, people yearn for CoO, and we are about 18 months from people nostalgically requesting the seasonal model that worked

Another one for DnD, any time I'm teaching people how to play, the To Hit / Damage dice thing confuses the shit out of people. Just how it's laid out on the sheet I think. I've taken to writing a tiny D20 beside the To Hit box, but even then sometimes people roll damage first.

Nah, the Witness making his whole species into soup is the earliest part of the timeline. Then the witness recruits rhulk, rhulk then goes to find the worms, yoinks a space whales rib (ahsa maybe?) and empowers the worms with darkness, then the familiar is sent to the hive siblings dad
