We must focus on proven solutions that have reduced veteran homelessness by 50% since 2009:
• Permanent, affordable housing
• Supportive services, not punishment
• Outreach-led strategies prioritizing dignity & wraparound support
Forced removals have long-term consequences, making it harder for individuals to connect with services, find stability, and rebuild their lives.
Punishing veterans and others for poverty, without offering real housing solutions or tangible supports, does not solve homelessness—it only deepens the crisis.
NCHV is deeply concerned about the recent reports of impending encampment closures. Read about the proposed actions here ⬇️
