Great initiative by Wiley! The publisher has started marking retracted papers in reference lists. When you click on the retraction notice, you can also see the date and reason for the retraction.
All publishers should adopt this practice. But also screen references during submission.

I just gave a colleague heading off on maternity leave a copy of Peepo, which is a personal favourite. I hope she and her daughter enjoyed them as much as we did.

Allan Ahlberg, celebrated children's author, dies aged 87 - BBC News He wrote more than 150 books, including The Jolly Postman and Each Peach Pear Plum.

So sad to hear of the passing of Allan Ahlberg. His stories and poems (and Janet Ahlberg's illustrations) were a big part of my childhood. I had the privilege of sharing them with my kids which was an enormous pleasure.

Made the sexiest bread and butter pudding ever yesterday and that's not an adjective you'll usually find attached to B&BP. Made with stewed plums and apricots from our garden/my youngest's school apricot tree.

So sad to hear about the death of Diogo Jota. He was a brilliant footballer and seemed like a lovely guy. Such a tragedy that this was only a few days after his wedding and with 3 young kids. Heartbroken for his family. Liverpool FC will never forget you. You'll Never Walk Alone. RIP. πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”

Rather enamoured with my purple chilli plants. Thought they might not go purple till they are ripe but they've started purple, so who knows what colour they will end up.

OK, I admit I had to look that one up. I wondered what Romesh Ranganathan had to do with libraries. This is what happens when you don't go to library school.

Here's a bit of news for Talk TV and Mike Graham: No British prime minister has ever attended the inauguration of a US president.

The UK ambassador to the US traditionally attends US presidential inaugurations on behalf of the British government.

Fascinating preprint that shines a light on EBM/EBM+ and the hierarchy of evidence. Has some of the shine come off the gold-standard RCT? Do we need another way to assess effectiveness when blinding isn't realistically possible?
