Transgender Day of Visibility celebration highlights importance of belonging for Utah’s trans community Project Rainbow and the Utah Trans Plus Coalition sponsored the event, and organizers said it’s no accident that it was held in West Valley City.

“We’ve seen a lot of anti-trans legislation, both across the country and in this state, that target our youth. And it’s really important that they know that we’re here for them and we’ll always keep fighting for them.”

Can Utah become a data center hub without draining its water supply? Gov. Spencer Cox says conservation and tech don’t have to clash. But Utah’s push to attract data centers — fueled by AI demand — is raising questions about just how much water they actually use.In lat...

Utah’s elected leaders have pushed for the state to be a hub for data centers, facilities that for decades have relied on large amounts of water to keep their servers cool. Since 2021, Utah has added or announced plans for at least 15 new data center buildings or campuses.

This year, Trans Day of Remembrance was about more than mourning For 26 years, Trans Day of Remembrance has honored the transgender people who died in the last year. Groups in Utah all have their own ways of honoring the dead — and celebrating the living.

“As difficult as it is to organize a week [of] curated events, you know, it’s all worth it in the end when you hear so many people tell us this is their first time to be in the space with other trans people,” said Jacey Thornton, executive director of Project Rainbow.
