For nearly a half century, trickle-down economic policies have resulted in a tax system rigged in favor of the rich. This is not only bad for our economy, but it’s leading to a billionaire takeover of our democracy as well. Watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkiO0_uSJAk

Your regular reminder that dehumanizing the people who are dehumanizing others isn’t how we’re gonna get to liberation.

We have to live into the world we want to create.

If the map of deaths on railways looked like this, it'd be treated as a national emergency.

We need to be more efficient with our energy demand and use.
Let's not accept an exponential growth curve on this finite planet hone of ours.
We can be smarter than that.

Fun fact: every five months, the world builds as much solar power generation as all the nuclear power that has ever been built. And still some people dream of a ”nuclear renaissance”. That train has left the station long ago…

Next time someone tries arguing that it’s “social engineering” (cue ominous music) to give people more CHOICE to walk, bike & take public transit in their city, tell them that designing our current car DEPENDENCY has been the largest and most damaging social engineering experiment in human history.

Short haul domestic flights are not welcome. There is a climate emergency.
If operators offer them, be clear to act on your ethics - decline.
Just take a train or coach and make good use of your (longer) journey time.

Let’s make a thread. Post the antithesis of mutually assured destruction. Sending love and peace to all. We are better than this man, this war.

Second trip. Last Summer. Took my daughter and her partner, plus my 3 year old granddaughter to Copenhagen via night in Koln in both directions, plus a few days in the real Legoland in Billund on the outward trip. Fabulous!

Decades of cross-border planning went into the Trans National Network. OK, much of the UK is an island, but Thatcher wasn't keen on thus. Yes, our geographic isolation dates right back in time.

The Man in Seat 61 - for train travel How to travel by train in Europe & worldwide: Schedules, fares & how to buy tickets.

Holiday advice: It's pleasant to get a train to Europe. You just have to turn travelling into a core part of the holiday - lunch in Paris, dinner in Bordeaux, trip to Spain, week on beach etc. It's limiting, but very enjoyable & decent alternative to a flight you won't be able to afford by summer.

I’m not on Facebook and won’t use it.

Closed my account entirely and deleted way back in 2017 when all its dirty data dealings came to light.

But I’ve given seat61’s website. And Rail Europe that I find terrific.
