Crown shyness is one of many adaptations that allow trees to coexist in communities. Certain species leave gaps when growing next to each other; a behavior scientists believe may be a way to ensure they both have access to sunlight and resources.

Now the DOJ says they will not prosecute ANYONE in relation to the Epstein files.
This should infuriate everyone!
This is the biggest coverup in US history and the media keeps following trumps distraction rabbit holes.
Remember when Trump literally had fake electors try to overturn the election?
Nothing happened to them. This is a federal crime. Why haven’t they been prosecuted?
Before everyone jumps on me about the gop majority, Dems were all over the media and social media talking tough and saying they will file contempt forms immediately if Bondi was a no show. Apparently that was all talk. AGAIN
Great post. Sometimes people think of #space expenditures as nothing except military, political, etc domination, but one legit purpose is to search for Potentially Hazardous Objects that might strike Earth, which the Vera C. Rubin is doing.
Yeah, so… yeah
Power shifts rarely happen through confrontation alone. More often, they emerge when one actor destabilizes the system and another quietly builds the architecture to replace it.
China has played every chess piece masterfully.
I agree with the sentiment. But while the Earthrise image emphasises Earth's fragile environment, it does so by contrasting it with a supposedly dead and barren Moon. A dead Moon justifies mining with no environmental constraints. The Moon has a right to its ecological integrity.

Woman with child. How the SAVE Act targets survivors of domestic violence.
Content warning: This blog discusses domestic violence. We will be frank. The first 18 months after leaving an abusive relationship is statistically the most dangerous time for survivors. Find out how the SAVE Act would make matters worse. www.lwv.org/blog/save-ac... @lwvus.bsky.social
Thank you for your courage to publicly address abusive language.
The furor over ICE's mass detention efforts has focused on people with longstanding roots in the US and no criminal records.
But judges say ICE has also been routinely – and illegally — locking up people *with* final orders of removal. www.politico.com/news/2026/04...
This is Achrioptera manga, a giant phasmid or stick insect native to Madagascar.
The specific epithet, "manga" means blue in Malagasy & it's not hard to see why. Only males are blue.
The tiny back wings ("alae") are an example of brachyptery: they're useless for flight, but have other functions.

Article examines a CNN investigation describing horrors - what scum peels up drugged women's eyelids to check for unconsciousness & then rapes them & then creates a hashtag to gloat & share methods?
(I'm unsure about Sec. 230 reforms but props to the author for acknowledging the topic's complexity)
He could have even gone for "term limits"!
Great to see this topic of CCP propaganda getting more attention. In mid2024, I wrote about soft/seductive coercion and science fiction's Hugo Awards scandal in China (see embedded screenshot). douglaslucas.com/footnotes/9/...
In hopes of inspiring conversations, I'm reposting this provocative article with the disclaimer that I lack enough knowledge to evaluate some of its information (for example, the article mentions taking stuff from Pyxis containers, but I don't know if those have alarm systems, etc.)

The Russ Vought hearing is starting now. It's the first time Vought has testified before Congress since his confirmation hearings, so it's the first time Congress will be able to question him about the onslaught of illegal budgetary actions he has undertaken. I'll be posting in this thread.
It's always easier not to think for oneself. Find a nice safe hierarchy and settle in. Don't make changes, don't risk disapproval, don't upset your syndics. It's always easiest to let yourself be governed.
Resistance outside voting is great, but reshape governance, too
* Learn local laws
* Meet local election supervisor
* Join local @lwvus.bsky.social (not just for women)
* Read @votebeat.org, @boltsmag.org, etc
* Do local and/or @scrutineers.bsky.social trainings to observe, cry foul, or praise
What if, today, voters of each U.S. #vote jurisdiction assumed their midterm results will be unverified (and possibly pushed toward MAGA) & immediately began preparing, now, to scrutinize recounts, audits, et cetera? In most regions there are procedures in place you can join, scrutinize, & more. 1/2
Thanks!
Do you know offhand estimates of when a probe or people might land on Europa? Pedo history of Clarke aside (see research by @jasonsanford.bsky.social & others), I've long found that 2010 novel/movie line (with or without Jupiter becoming a star!), "attempt no landings there", incredibly evocative.
For those unaware:
There are internationally-agreed upon conventions for naming things in space.
Here is the convention for the Moon:
planetarynames.wr.usgs.gov/Page/Categor...
Anyone can suggest a name, which gets sent over to the relevant International Astronomical Union working group.
Of course they have condoms, etc. I mean the less commonly thought about equipment.
