- sufficed as an answer alone, but the sheer hatred that rumbled through her low voice when she said what she did next spoke volumes on the view of ‘magic’ back then.

“Of course — back then, it was just called — 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙩.”

“I scoured through the forbidden sections of Atlantica’s vast libraries just for even a passage of knowledge.”

Ursula’s lip curled, teeth clenched in mild disdain. She didn’t answer Ariel’s first question, nor even acknowledged it with an arrogant hiss or retort.

That probably would have -

Pouring some potion into an empty bowl, the projected memory’s eyes went wide, and mesmerized by what she saw. Energy overflowing, electricity lighting up her visage.

Although, the younger Ursula looked ever so slightly less pleased.

The vision seemed to leap ahead in time to a studious young Ursula in her room, reading and flipping pages, mesmerized by the hidden arts of alchemy… and magic.

“So naturally, I had to make up for my own -

Bestowed to him, by presumably his own father, the legendary trident, with all of the power of the oceans and more compacted inside.

Ursula curled her hand, and her tentacles mimicked the motion, desperate to capture that moment in time forever. But alas, like all beauty, it was fleeting.

She stirred the smoke with a tentacle, and weaved it into a blurred vision -

“And let’s not forget the importance of 𝘽𝘼𝘼𝘼𝙃-𝘿𝙔 𝙇𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙐𝘼𝙂𝙀, 𝙃𝘼𝘼𝙃.”

The steam seemed to spread like a blanket. Even just vaguely, she could see a small fragment of how even more lavish and shiny Atlantica was in it’s heyday.

“I lived in the palace alongside your father. Family privileges, you understand.”

“Forgive me, I can’t help being a theatric.”

The sea witch snarked as the steam from the cauldron began to shift and take shape. Like the images in the clouds, they would manifest illusions; visions of the yesteryear into one clear picture.

“A long time ago, and this was far before you were -

“Nevermind that.”

Ursula held up a dismissive hand, and already her attention was on the various bottles on the wall. Ingredients rarer than diamonds, and only a short handful were dumped into the center of her cauldron. They’d settle with a heavy hiss.

“Time to uphold my end of the deal.”

“Just steer clear of my crazy sister. Now, 𝙨𝙝𝙚’𝙨 a handful…..”

The sea witch utters underneath her breath. It’s not like she needs to know about that hag anyways. Black sheep of the family and all.

She laughed humorlessly. The very thought of it was absurd. Ursula seldom believed in things as idealistic as true love or endings wrapped in a neat little bow. And she especially didn’t believe in Triton.

Yet, the girl was not lying.

“Doesn’t sound like him. Stubborn as an hammerhead…”

“Octavinelle…”

Her brows raised in extreme curiosity. She could only imagine it. A parade in her honor perhaps!

“Yes… Yes, I think I’ll remember that name…”

“The summary. Obviously, you and Triton seemed to reach some sort of… compromise.”

Ursula gestures to her lower half. Insult to injury, she didn’t even seem to need the full strength of her spell to get ‘what she wanted’.

Ursula waves her hands around, making a small ‘bzz’ noise with her mouth.

“Can’t blame a girl for trying.”

A quick eye-roll. It was just the same as dropping a coin in a wishing well. Trying her luck one more time. The girl had grown smart. It’d be expected from her tribulations at her hands—… tentacles.
