Excerpt from my new book #FourDaysAWeek out now in @behscientist.bsky.social. Is overwork in the US a deep cultural problem as is popularly believed? No, the country led the world in shorter hours for decades. A #4DW is possible! behavioralscientist.org/americans-ar...

Very pleased to share after a long wait (and listening to 2 hrs of Latin), I finally had my graduation ceremony. Great time catching up with mentors and friends at Oxford. A big thank you to all the people who have been supportive! @sociologyoxford.bsky.social

“We are shocked and saddened by the news of Professor Michael Burawoy’s passing. His untimely death is a great loss to sociology & to movements for justice around the world.”

It's shocking and deeply tragic to hear about the passing of Michael Burawoy. We had some email exchanges a few years ago and Michael has always been very kind, generous and encouraging to young scholars. His work on labour and public sociology will always be an inspiration for us.

The sudden and tragic loss of Michael Burawoy is devastating beyond words. A peerless scholar, mentor, teacher, activist, and friend, with a wry wit and an enormous heart. The only consolation is that he brought so many of us together, an extended family of kin who strive to carry on his legacy.

It's a bit overwhelming to reconnect people one by one here. Big shoutout to the people who made these wonderful starter packs! Sociology folks, which packs are you in?

I've updated the "Sociologists Studying China Starter Pack" to include not only more sociologists but also historians, political theorists, political scientists, historical IR scholars, cultural anthropologists, critical geographers, & media scholars who examine Chinese society from various angles.
