Stop the tax cuts before Jan 1! North Carolina can't afford to lose $1 billion more in public funding next year. We need those dollars for what matters most in our communities! #LoveNCFundNC #NCPol #NCGA

Partial funding for food assistance is the minimum. NC families need the administration to do ALL it can to keep food affordable for the entire month, for every one of the 1.4 people in our state who need this help to keep hunger in check.

Understanding the Legal Framework Governing a Shutdown | Center on Budget and Policy Priorities A government shutdown does not provide the Administration any additional legal authority to fire federal employees, limit review of its actions by federal courts, or freeze funding once full-year appropriations are provided.

The federal government has partially shut down. This happens when Congress doesn’t agree to a funding proposal by September 30th, their fiscal year deadline.

By deleting a few imp words from the E&C bill, the reconciliation bill the Hse Rules cmte is likely to advance creates an unconscionable decision for states: end health coverage for lawfully residing immigrant kids & pregnant adults or face steep federal Medicaid funding cuts.

Statement by Alexandra Sirota, Executive Director, on release of details of federal budget proposals - NC Budget & Tax Center   Congressional House leaders have unveiled plans for deeply unpopular cuts to health care and food assistance — cuts that are only needed in order to extend tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. @ncgovernor.bsky.social's proposal to target tax cuts to working families who earn wages too low to keep up with rising costs is an important step forward in NC!

We must recognize that our community's well-being will move our economy forward, not more tax cuts for the wealthy few. #ncpol #ncga

Thank you, Gov. Cooper, for your veto of Senate Bill 382 — a proposal that fails to advance the rebuilding of Western NC, limits future response to disasters, and disrupts the function of state government. #ncpol #ncga #ncgov
