More pitches were thrown in the zone - 49.6% - then ever before in the pitch tracking era.

In-zone four-seamers were also at an all-time high (in the pitch tracking era) at 55.4%.

SLG on in-zone four-seamers was .472, 2nd lowest since '14.

a golden retriever sits smiling in the front passenger seat of a car. the window is rolled down just a couple of inches. blue skies with puffy clouds and some happy little trees are in the background. it’s a totally normal photo of a golden in a car, minus the fact that the tongue sticking out of her mouth is bright blue.

you’re peering down into a styrofoam cup that was in a car’s cupholder. it is mostly empty but has some blue slushie way down at the bottom with a mysteriously tongue-shaped hole carved through the ice in one spot. the back of a golden retriever’s head is visible in the upper right corner of the photo. the dog may or may not be avoiding eye contact.

Danny Kaye's lament sounded clear across the diamonds at the Seattle Mariners' spring training complex Friday, and he was right - the expansion team didn't have any hats for the first day of workouts. In fact, they didn't have any bats or windbreakers either because of shipment delays from the East where bad weather has hampered movement of supplies. Nobody missed the bats much, since only the pitchers and catchers were on hand to toss the ball around a bit, but those windbreakers would have been handy against a chill February wind.

Looking at a bonkers story from the Mariners' very first spring training and also found this which made me laugh out loud. This team was so incredibly Mariners from the very beginning 🥰
