God I love him.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

I love Bruce Springsteen.
Tracks 2 was an interesting artifact, Nebraska 82 is just an absolute delight.
Losing Kind obviously shares a lot of DNA with Highway Patolman, but it also shares a lot with Highway 29, which in my mind is one of Springsteen’s most underrated songs.
On a bad day, I was present for a little miracle of joy.
On a holiday road trip we entertained ourselves by selecting the “best” song for every state. I didn’t want to be too tiresome, so I only suggested Springsteen on those states we were having trouble with - Utah, Nebraska, South Dakota, etc. I did not even nominate him for the bigger … 1/3
Italian dinner and a toast with the TeachRock crew and Stevie Van Zandt at Morandi in The West Village. It was great hearing about all of the exciting things Mr. Van Vandt, the Teach Rock’s founder is doing by helping kids learn through musical education.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN on Sunset Strip in 1975 with a billboard behind him for ‘Born To Run’.
We are still waiting Stevie!
Stevie Van Zandt campaigned for this for decades.
Bruce always says that his audience was almost all male before 1980s Hungry Heart. But this video from 1978 seems to prove otherwise. 😂

I probably have unrealistically high expectations for this!

Going light on politics till after the holidays. So today it's #Springsteen lyrics. Here's my favorite:
"Lives on the line where dreams are found and lost
I'll be there on time and I'll pay the cost
For wanting things that can only be found
In the darkness on the edge of town"
What's yours?
“That flag flying over the courthouse means certain things are set in stone, who we are, what we’ll do and what we won’t. It’s going to be a long walk home.”
There’s a joke here somewhere …
Every Springsteen love song can be read as the deeply personal story of one relationship … or as commentary on America.
🎶”We've given each other some hard lessons lately
But we ain't learnin'
We're the same sad story that's a fact
One step up and two steps back.”🎶
I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.
And he appeared on The Howard Stern Show with The E Street Band in October — where they gave a wide-ranging interview alongside an unprecedented stripped-down, full-band performance.
While in Europe, he became the first non-British songwriter welcomed as a Fellow of the Ivors Academy — an honor presented to him by Sir Paul McCartney — before two performances at Wembley Stadium in front of over 150,000 fans, with his U.K. shows “reminding us … no one does it better” (The Times).
I wish I’d been there!
It’s true, but the band gets some of the credit!
Wait? Isn’t there 3? Blue Christmas, Merry Christmas Baby, and Santa Claus is coming to town…. (I realize this doesn’t materially change your point.)
As we march to an uncertain 2025
Things I am always grateful for:
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band still making glorious rock & roll after 50 yrs

Every Springsteen lyric can be read as the deeply personal story of one human… or as commentary on America.
🎶”On his right hand Billy tattooed the word love and on his left hand was the word fear
And in which hand he held his fate was never clear.”🎶
I believe I have actually done this!
Springsteen is a great song writer and a good performer but some folks don't understand how amazing the E. Street Band is until they are seen live. It's not just a concert, it's an experience.
