you know what's unhealthy for me personally? working long days outside while in a caloric deficit
you know what's cool about processed foods? they're convenient, often shelf-stable, and calorically dense.
like, fuck you man, sometimes I have 10 minutes and need to consume at least 500 calories and that's not happening with a banana and a handful of almonds. Having the time and money to eat "unprocessed" (whatever that means) is a privilege not many people have.
Worrying Loudly & Publicly about processed foods has always been a dogwhistle for me, usually indicating "I hate poor people and blame them for their own below-average health outcomes"
Blah blah blah leverage blah blah philanthropic investment models blah blah blah.
Just take the money and Godspeed.
if we want the vibecession to end perhaps we should be focused primarily on reducing the grinding existential dread of the future that even many objectively comfortable and highly-paid people seem to be feeling nowadays - and yeah, i do think there are practical things one could do to improve this.
In 2024 The Conversation had 8.3M in revenue and 7.8M in expenses and paid $0 to writers. Is that really ok with you?

3. Zach Bryan is a better poet than he is a composer
1. The amount of time I spend listening to Zach Bryan is inversely proportional to my mental wellbeing
2. Damn I enjoy this new Zach Bryan album

a map from 1918 showing the interurban network sprawling across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio
One side obsession from my research into the 1920s is the extensive network of ELECTRIC trains that used to connect cities and towns across the central Midwest called the Interurban. We had this more than a hundred years ago. The things we had and the things we lost.
On his way to steal yo girl
(Provided yo girl is a tan-morph female White-throated Sparrow, since each sex of this species has two morphs that mate disassortatively and function like genders with associated behavioral differences.)

People are asking ChatGPT things I would normally just ask a friend, parent, mentor, therapist or medical professional for or about. It takes work to build and maintain those relationships, and figure out who is the right person to ask, but the alternative is a digital tool known for lying to users.
obviously there are categories of influencers, but there's definitely a subset that people watch with the same sick fascination as 100 years ago at the circus
surely *someone* has written a dissertation on social media influencers as the 21st century sideshow performers, right?
A good time for some hardy perennials with deep roots to go in, but it's still going to take a long time to get back to where it was before Helene
