Nonetheless, a fairytale town

Would read a 15,000 word oral history of how EIA 860M came to include both a Google Map and Bing Map link.
There's a bevy of reports on geothermal coming out these days, and this new piece from the Center for Public Enterprise is easily the prettiest. Also has some of the best data for how EGS is the best option for supplying clean firm in the West. publicenterprise.org/report/the-f...

Great example of where US can lead via commercialization. Deploying EGS here, where we have the comparative advantage in subsurface development, will unlock international opportunities (tech transfer + resource discovery, etc)
Should be feet, not “metres.” But our drilling team really is good, so watch this space and we’ll keep working on it.
The Economist brings the goods here:

“Pioneers of “enhanced geothermal” techniques believe they can apply innovations from the shale industry, such as fracking and multilateral drilling, to enable geothermal almost anywhere. At the forefront is Fervo.”

Honestly this is good to see, if not addressed now, reckless e-biking (esp class 3 and modified class 2) are going to ruin it for everyone.
“Fervo’s at it again — pushing the limits of enhanced geothermal and what’s possible in clean, firm power.”
Great write up from Sightline on our latest technical advancements. www.ctvc.co/fervo-goes-h...

Possibly the coolest job opportunity yet? I'm horribly biased but I think it holds up.
Fervo Energy is hiring for a mid-career level Policy Manager to help lead strategic engagement on government affairs and policy campaigns at the federal and state level: fervoenergy.com/career/gover...
The provisions currently being considered by the House would be problematic for geothermal and all new clean firm. I don't think that's the full intention of Congress, so I'm optimistic we'll be able to fix as things move forward in the Senate, if not the House.

The policy analysis being done on advancing next-generation geothermal is really top notch. Huge appreciation to the smart people thinking hard about how to move the needle on EGS. The tech innovation is moving fast here and we need policy to keep up if we're going to meet the moment for clean firm:
Really good analysis by @csis.org on how tax policy is critical to accelerating next-generation geothermal. Particularly helpful to look at what has worked in the past for spurring the shale boom. EGS is following the playbook here, need to stay the course. www.csis.org/analysis/ira...

I love how this guy came in with super strong and totally unfounded opinions, was shown to be wrong, and decided the right move was to maintain the hubris and double down on being wrong. cleantechnica.com/2025/03/18/e...
A 5.6 mile lateral and a single 30,000 foot bit run - wow. The US is very good at subsurface energy and EGS is just starting to take advantage of the O&G industry’s incredible track record of innovation. www.hartenergy.com/ep/exclusive...
