Just watched BATMAN (1989), and while I have seen this movie countless times, I was really struck by how artfully each shot was laid out.

I don't think of it as an Every Frame A Painting movie, but dang if every frame isn't a painting.

Making stuff like that is all I have to try and visualize the stories I wish we got.

Even grim 'n' gritty 80s Batman isn't a fan of the Super-mullet.

The other Batmen all look suspicious of the Golden Age Batman. "Hrmm, the little credits box reads 'Bob Kane' but I've heard reports that's not quite true. Care to explain?"

Love these scenes of the different Batmen from various eras all co-existing in their different styles. Jon Bogdanove did such a good job emulating the other Bat-artists' distinctive looks.

Needless to say, I highly recommend these comics.

They're very atmospheric, very beginner-friendly, character-driven detective stories, with an early day Batman shown as one of the most formidable protagonists you could encounter, journeying in a world of horror.
