It's probably the way to make Pokémon games good by not having to focus so much on the meta in the main games. Just give me a fun adventure and single-player content.

I'd be okay with a more in-depth reimagining of the game, personally. The original is great and will always be there, I think an FF7-style remake could be an interesting way to make it new while having a bit of nostalgia.

I knew it had to be some dumb pressure from above. Of all the useless AI garbage, an AI that creates custom feeds seems like the most pointless idea ever?

It feels like they were asked to use AI and scrambled to find the thing that would have the most minimal impact possible on the experience.

Yeah I think having high expectations for the story is a mistake, though of course that's the road people will take if they have no attachment to the characters. It's just weird to see people who do like the characters say "the movie is too fun, 2/5"

I haven't seen the movie yet but I saw a review that suggested the Minecraft movie was somehow better and I'm sorry, I watched that movie and I don't think there's a world where that can be better than another movie.
