Neat little source I got to hold.
A vintage Tc99 source, and thanks to Tc99's very long half life, this guy is essentially new still.

With a starting point of 0.224uCi it's now not far off with a estimated 0.2239uCi left.
This guy has a mylar window, and is a purely beta decay.

New toy is running, just needed some power supply work.
This guy originally was designed for 8 yes eight D sized batteries.
So I put a internal gel cell, since it needs a 12v activation voltage (pulling one out of eberlines playbook huh?), and a 120v socket.

Amazon battery packs fit, just a little modifying on the belt sander.
Wire loop is to help in removal of pack from meter.

I may have found a ameture option for battery sleds, but test fits will have to wait until this evening.

After a long pinout the 9DP lives.
I did not want to spend $130 on a battery pack, so made my own ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

So get licensed, got it.

Welp they look good, and get the job done.
Centering trays for my efficiency sources on my sample counters.
~Ludlum is Alpha, Eberline became a Beta counter.

On a side note I highly doubt I'll make them out of acrylic, that sucked.

It is strange.
Omicron lists these as able to do mass air sampling of micron particulate. I was going off of a receipt I found with my sampler.

Eh I'll probably pick up a pack of what you showed just to feel more secure about them.
I'm still very much in the R&D stage of my air sampling.

Now kids dont take candy from strangers,
But what if it comes from a cool science company based out of the states?

Working on a project doing Air sampling.
Here is the Det portion of a old Eberline SAC-4. The alpha counter uses a 12mm acrylic light guide. This will be replaced with a 10mm Pvt scintillator and a 2mm window assembly for Beta/gamma detection.
Whole assembly will be sheilded by 5mm of lead within.

Crap I see the typo now!

I'm in this Ludlum M9 ionization chamber for desiccant change out, this gives me a great opportunity to show you the chamber itself.
Ludlum uses completely machine PMMA chamber coated in colloidal graphite (Aquadag).

If you yavent heard of this I do not fault you.
This is a Ludlum Measurements model 182 Radon Flask probe.

A fancy name for a dark box with a 5in pmt.
I use it for crystal testing.

Crude but I think this evenings project should be fine until I decide to make a aluminum cap.

Currently the cap is turned pvc, my metal lathe is too greasy to keep any white plastic clean.

What about full sized probes?
great meter combo.
The FH40G-L10 & a FHZ672 E-10 probe.

A great digital survey meter using a internal gas proportional detector, pared with a large 750mL scintillator capable of H*10 background measurements.

@melting9.bsky.social Asked if anyone liked full sized survey meters.
Welp, what about full sized probes?

That's a cute little scintillator.
Was not aware that Scionix made any modules using the R7400 series of pmt's.
