This is the ideal bicycle. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

AOC talking to RFK Jr. Her facial and hand gesture has the spiritual energy of that Italian hand gesture where you pinch your fingers and wave your hand (the "ma che vuo" gesture).

And I was, for the record, wearing sandals if not flip-flops.

There is a bridge that, every time we ride it, @gravelinfluencer.bsky.social makes a point of drafting off me.

First time I got real honest to god The Flu flu, I was 23, in the best shape of my life. I collapsed at a friend's house and couldn't leave for 3 weeks. His girlfriend, an ER doc, said stay where you are the hospitals are overwhelmed.

Now imagine that in a bunk you share wih 2 other people.

The e-bike was what let us drop down to just 1 car.

Several years ago, I was coming out of a local bagel shop. Dude looks at my e-bike, rolls down his window, and says "That's cheating."

I looked at him and said "Dude, you drove an F350 to a bagel shop. I don't think you get to judge cheating."

96 years ago tonight, CBS’s first breaking news broadcast went out from the scene of one of the deadliest fires in US history, in a voice identified only as “Convict X-46812.”

For @columjournreview.bsky.social, I wrote about how this forgotten Black prisoner spurred the creation of CBS News. 🗃️

If you think it's shocking that the SPLC pays degenerate racist criminals for information, let me tell you about the FBI...

Also it is always this, but substitute "speeding" for "drunk driving" as though that changes anything:

The Discovery feed, along with the inability to take an account private, will be the death of this place.

This! I was just at a meeting where an older woman cyclist said she won’t ride *on our Main St.* because of the lack of infrastructure; she rides on recreational multi use paths only. How sad! I do so many errands downtown - I hate that she feels afraid (her word) because of unpredictable cars.

City planners know perfectly well that physical infrastructure can change behavior...they're just reluctant to apply that approach to cars. Ever seen the big rocks they put in places they don't want people to camp? Turns out the same thing works with drivers!

An illustration of Sean Connery's character from Zardoz done in the style of a Judy Blume novel cover. The title is "Are You There God? It's Us, An Unofficial Hugo Book Club Blog"

In the upper left corner is "A Hugo Voter Pack" done in the style of a book publisher imprint. There is a catch phrase up top "Irreverent, incoherent opinions about SFF."

Bike has like 3k miles on it, which I’m kind of shocked to be told makes it a high-mileage bike.

Super-fun ride though. Will sell cheap if you are interested.

So I’ve got a fat-tire e-bike I bought as a winter commuter. Turned out that one feature of that bike is that you cannot field-repair a flat. (Not a matter of skills, you need a specialized bit of equipment). That made it a bad commuter.

Amazing that anyone’s brain is infantile enough to believe that tech overlords who would burn the world down before they would pay taxes and who don’t even want you to have healthcare or mail delivery really want to see you get a big check every month for nothing.
