The UK is in a leading position globally to end new cases of HIV, thanks to long-standing collaboration between governments of all parties, researchers, healthcare professionals, and communities.
Maintaining that progress will require continued focus on evidence-based policy and shared commitment.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with Mr Farage, alongside experts from our Foundation, to discuss the evidence and policies proven to reduce the impact of HIV on the NHS.
Restricting access to this treatment is not only harmful to individuals but also counterproductive to public health here in the UK and abroad. Denying HIV care would put lives at risk and lead to more transmissions in the UK, not fewer.
HIV treatment is one of medicine’s great success stories. A single pill a day allows people living with HIV to lead long, healthy lives and eliminates the risk of passing the virus on.

"We urge both Congress and the Administration to once again come together to protect and strengthen funding for HIV/AIDS. Millions of lives depend on it, and the opportunity to end this epidemic, once and for all, must not be lost."

"Today, we have extraordinary new tools to prevent HIV and treat it more effectively than ever before. Ending AIDS is within reach. But progress is fragile, and without sustained investment, it can quickly be reversed.
Now is not the moment to pull back. It is the moment to double down."

"Less than two months ago, a Republican-led Congress and the President came together to pass a bipartisan budget that reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to ending the AIDS epidemic - a goal first set out in President Trump’s 2019 State of the Union."

An estimated 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the United States. Right now, 150,000 don’t know it.
Ending AIDS starts with access. To testing. To prevention. To care.

Last year, 60% of women-led HIV organizations lost funding. But women leaders didn’t stop.
This #InternationalWomensDay, we honor the women who refuse to look away.
In 1996 Elena was told she had three years to live. Today, she leads Revanche, bringing life-changing care to communities.
Photo of Anne Aslett with three young women. Quote reads: "Women and girls are not inherently more vulnerable to HIV; inequality puts them at risk. Gender-based violence, barriers to education and healthcare, poverty and stigma all drive that vulnerability. If we are serious about ending AIDS, we must dismantle the structural barriers that continue to endanger women and girls." - Anne Aslett
A future free from AIDS must also be a future built on gender equality.
As #InternationalWomensDay approaches, we’re highlighting the urgent need to center women and girls in the global HIV response and to confront the inequalities that continue to shape the epidemic.
One mission. One fearless commitment.

Mandisa Moore-O'Neal, Executive Director of The Center for HIV Law and Policy: "Our partnership with the Elton John AIDS Foundation means we are able to provide intersectional HIV legal and policy technical assistance to over 20 states, while also providing specialized support as needed. Our communities know they can rely on us for liberatory policy solutions."
HIV is not a crime. But in 32 states across the U.S. and 90+ countries, outdated laws still prosecute people for their HIV status. On #HIVIsNotACrime day, we stand with our partner @hivlawandpolicy.bsky.social to fight for laws rooted in science, dignity and justice.
