Poolbeg Lighthouse with a rainbow marked off the list. I've got this one lighthouse now with rainbow, fiery skies, noctilucent clouds and even aurora a few times. All that's missing is lightning now!

I only included the synoptic data for stations such as Finner or Sherkin Island. I could probably find wetter if I were to go back further with their manual climate station equivalents.
Data calculated from Met Éireann historical archive.
Rainfall totals for 1st-14th April 2026 at selected stations in Ireland and how this compares to previous such periods on record. It's been exceptionally wet for many in the west.
However, those where it ranks 1st tended to have a short return period.
It's from Roger Brugge. I would use @roostweather.bsky.social site but it's gone down the dogs for tracking stuff like rain since he got too busy with other commitments.

Big contrast in rainfall totals so far this April in the UK & Ireland. Very dry in SE England/EA with as little as 0.4mm at Bedford and Holbeach.
Meanwhile, Belmullet in Mayo (NW Ireland) has had 90.6mm in the first 13 days of April... 122% of its whole April average.
Rainbow over the Bull Wall and Clontarf seafront.
After such an epic moonset, I was delighted to go home with just that but this day last year had another trick up its sleeve in the opposite direction. The horizon was all hazy, perfect to align the sunrise with North Bull Lighthouse.
It is officially one year today since this UNBELIEVABLE moment of such a spectacular moonset over the Dublin City skyline captured from the Half Moon swimming club on the Great South Wall.
Amazing sunrise over Rockabill on this day last year.
Whilst the UK has achieved 5 days of 20C or greater in 2026 already so far, Ireland continues to wait on its first 20C day.
Ireland's first 20C on average is as late as 23rd April so to be expected. Last year 2025 was earlier than average on 8th April.
When the UK achieves 25C today, it will be the earliest date to do so since 1968 when it was achieved on 29th March.
1965 also achieved it on 29th March (though an asterisk as to its accuracy). 1946 is the only other year on available record that achieved 25C before April 8th.
Red dawn sky over the Dublin Docklands yesterday morning.
A map showing Wales with the latest maximum temperatures today. These include 24.8 Celsius in Mona, 24.0 Celsius in Porthmadog and 22.8 Celsius in Valley
The highest temperatures in the UK have been in northwest Wales today 🌡️
Here we've had the warmest 7th April on record and the highest temperature of 2026 so far. We're very likely to see higher temperatures as we move through the rest of spring and towards summer 📈
The date of the first UK 20C, 25C and 30C every year from 1961-2025.
Averages for first date
1961-1990
20C: 12th April
25C: 17th May
30C: 8th July
1991-2020
20C: 5th April
25C: 5th May
30C: 30th June
2026 had its first 20C on 18th March, 25C either today or tomorrow.
The oldest maximum temperature date record on record (based on @torrouk.bsky.social records) has been exceeded this afternoon provisionally, with 24.2°C at Mona on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. The previous record was 23.6°C set at Oxford in 1859 - 167 YEARS AGO!
Red fiery sky over the Statsraad Lehmkuhl in Dublin City this morning.
It does. You can vary the angle by going down the hill behind the martello tower where a few cars can park by the bench or you can be up at the car park where there's been recent erosion leading to its closure.
Proud to say that one of my aurora pictures from the 20th of January has made it to the front cover of March's issue of 'Weather' by @rmets.org.
Poolbeg Chimneys with a snowy Wicklow Mountains backdrop this morning.
Good snowfall in Togher Wicklow Mountains
The spectacular full worm moon rising aligned with the Skryne tower around 3km away from the Hill of Tara using a 600mm lens. This couldn’t have gone better and if you enjoy this, like and follow for more in the future 🌝

A perfect full moonrise aligned with Skryne tower from the Hill of Tara this evening. What an end to a cracker of an early March day!
Spectacular moonset over Dublin City this morning.
Here in the UK, February has been mild, wet and very dull. Overall the winter has been very wet except in West Scotland and mild except for a cold period at the start of January. Here is a #dataviz summary of the weather and climate for the past 12 months. #climatechange #globalwarming
Mean min is the equal highest on record since 1878 for the month of February with 2024. The mean max whilst well above average is not as exceptional and there have been at least 15 Februaries since 1878 with a higher mean max.
February 2026 CET is now 7.1C to the 27th.
There have been only 11 Februaries back to 1659 in the CET record that have had a mean of 7C+. 2026 will be the 12th one to do so. 4 of these 12 have been since 2019 inclusive alone!
Still only on 27.9 hrs of sunshine for Dublin Airport as of the 26th. It will beat February 1947 after some sunshine tomorrow but it will safely be the second cloudiest since records began in 1942.
2nd cloudiest and wettest Feb. What a terrible month.
Provisionally it's been the 5th cloudiest winter on record for Scotland since 1910 and most places have had a cloudier than average winter. I'm sure that will come as no surprise, mostly due to February though. December and January were not remarkable.
