Showing network request details is table stakes, but screenshots of the rendered page over time!? Detailed time and durations of layout changes!? Script evaluation time, timer and GC events!? For a performance nerd like me this stuff is GOLD.

A game changer for my developer productivity has been @raycast.com AI. I very rarely need to web search anything anymore. It just removes a bunch of friction and gets me to my answer much quicker.

🍂 Finally, I had to find a new home for the dish once the dock was brought in for the winter. During the summer there are too many trees (and leaves) around the outhouse but by the fall, there’s enough of a clearing for the dish to work well enough. It’s not as good as the dock, but good enough!

How to get around that? Starlink uses cat5e cable with custom connectors. I cut off one side and replaced it with an RJ45 connector. Then connected that to a 150’ section of 23 gauge pure copper (not CCA!) cat6 cable. The larger gauge pure copper wire was enough to minimize the voltage drop.

🛜 The final issue I ran into was the distance between the dish and the cottage. The maximum Starlink cable length is 150ft, which was too short for me. The reason why the cable can’t be longer is because the voltage drop is too great at a longer distance.

⚡️ For power: I have a limited electricity budget and try to account for every watt of power. I ended up using a special type of PoE injector built for Starlink to avoid having to use the Starlink router. This allows me to run the dish directly from my 48v battery and removes the need for AC power.

I settled on putting it on the dock. One downside is that the coverage is not _perfect_, but is good enough for my kids to play online games without complaining about high ping. Another is having to relocate the dish when the dock is pulled in at the end of the season. But it worked!

🌳To address the trees: I had an arborist visit to investigate mounting it in a tree. This would give me perfect coverage, but ultimately I thought it would be too hard to maintain (or fix if something went wrong). And potential lightning strikes!

This past spring I set up Starlink at my off grid cottage. I had a few constraints, mainly : lots of trees that I refuse to cut down, limited power and cable distance.
