Yeah I’m there on and off. I’d say most helpful for me is to go to church without an expectation of feeling differently and sometimes art: books, music, visual art helps me to connect to wonder which helps me get to God in some way. Or even connecting to anger. I think any strong emotion can help.

And yet he’s still convinced the rest of us have something to learn from him. He should repent not give advice.
I really appreciate “Casimir Pulaski, “Chicago,” and basically the whole Carrie and Lowell album. For me, I needed and still need a faith that acknowledges grief and questions where God is in the midst of it. Grew up more happy clappy.
Sufjan Stevens for me.
So good! I wish she had released it earlier in October because it has such good Halloween/All Saints themes. I’m still listening but it seems like more lead time into that season could have helped?
Thank you for voting against increased funding!
Stunning!

I wouldn’t know where to start putting together something like this but well done to whoever did. Mirror-front kitchen cabinets seem like a disaster but otherwise, I agree. They know what they like and they did it!
And depressingly, my recollection is that the data shows that the more often people go to church, the more likely they were to vote for Trump. As a Christian, it makes me want to bang my head against the wall.
Yeah when 84% of white evangelicals and 60% of white Christians voted for a particular candidate, I think it makes sense to put the responsibility on that group. If those voters demanded better, even now, there would be change.
Brilliant idea!

Feeding Ghosts is really good.
I saw the guest and hit delete! I never care to hear from or about him again. He’s done enough.
I have concerns about pedestrian safety and think they should all have raised crosswalks and flashing lights. But I’m not concerned about the land use. Most of them end up having plants or artwork in the middle which makes is a good land use in my opinion. Nice to have the greenery or the public art
Interesting. I didn’t realize soil moisture affected temperature. I love all of your explanations! Even though I live in Indy, I learn a lot that’s relevant.
That last line 🎯
When my son was on crutches, I picked him up for the first week and I had to wait 30 minutes in line. It was hell. After that he managed the bus steps with crutches. I don’t understand parents who do this every day unless their child is being badly bullied or something.
Your comment was the most accurate and pithy assessment of the moment I read.
Every time they say this garbage someone needs to follow up:
So what you’re saying is American men are the worst in the world? Or is it maybe that our gun laws that are the worst in the world?
😂
I believe it was Tressie Cottom McMillan and Sam Sanders who discussed what’s played on country radio stations vs the diversity in country/Americana music. So people who don’t like what’s played on country radio may like other parts of the genre. It’s a very narrow set of artists on country radio.
Also leeches were considered medical care.
I do occasionally get little seedlings, but I wouldn’t consider it invasive. And it’s probably because I clip off the finished flowers and throw them on bare ground in my flower bed as a diy mulch. Of course I don’t know if the birds spread it? Haven’t seen them eating the seeds though.
Enjoy!
I made that Tuscan Coffee Cake recipe you posted last month, and my family loved it. Truly phenomenal.
I grew up in 3 different evangelical churches and went to an evangelical college. I think the through-line is control. Control of kids, women, other people’s choices etc. It’s something I have to actively resist now that I’m a parent.
Ahhh! Yes!
They better hope we are right given what Jesus says about what how he feels about how we treat “the least of these.”
Thank you. Called the Hamilton county office and left a message early this morning. Called this number and spoke to her staff!
