I'm so tired of this "false sense of victimization" these weak men feel.

"Oh no, women don't worship. Women don't want me. Women are too independent. Women should be sex toys. Women shouldn't have rights."

Like fuck that. Only weak men are screaming victimization.

I can see no possible scenarios where this could end badly

I'd like to think it's partly sensation bias but it does seem like a large number of us are just beyond hope.

An estimated 90-93% of all the extractable oil in the North Sea has already been extracted. Every % remaining will be less cost effective to extract than the one before it.

The Arabian plate is colliding with the Eurasian plate at a rate of about 15-20 millimeters per year, so if the Strait of Hormuz is doing anything naturally it’s closing up. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

"The welfare budget is higher than the defence budget!"

Yes, isn't that exactly what peacetime spending should look like? Shouldn't our focus be on the issues faced by actual people rather than imagined future threats?

If we go through with this, some of the people with an amount of money that a sane person wouldn't know what to do with might end up with a slightly shorter number of pounds a sane person wouldn't know what to do with!

Was reminded it may not actually be common knowledge that the Amazon rainforest is a largely man-made feature. Huge swaths of even the soil are anthrosol. Many of our food crops today originate from this agricultural system.

this feels like time for one of my periodic rants about how Judaism gets some stuff wrong - like all religions - but one of the things we are REALLY GOOD ON is the nature of forgiveness.

which is to say: first, unless they have come to you with sincere repentance, you don't have to forgive anyone!

Hans Zimmer is a transphobe.

A tweet reads "I worked for him. I did good work that he praised, but after transitioned he quickly had me fired. He had cue notes named "tr*nnv fight"' etc etc... It's a pattern of abuse that will inevitably come out over time, and I'm glad that the industry is changing slowly."

a chart showing climate scenarios

a chart showing climate scenarios

Any company quietly or loudly ditching their fossil fuel non-use goals is declaring the same.

Energy security and costs are important. Being alive is more important than both of these. If you've forgotten that, fix your fucking heart.

Any politician declaring that they don't give a shit about climate, emissions or fossil phase-out anymore is declaring that they don't care about fossil fuels killing their constituents and should be treated as such.

same for companies

A GENTLE REMINDER: we are trying to eliminate fossil fuels because using them kills us.

If fossil fuels were cheap (they're not) or reliable (they're SO NOT), it would still be urgent to get rid of them because their intended use destroys our life support systems.

Tech Lobbyists Are Trying To Kill Colorado’s Popular ‘Right To Repair’ Law There’s a meaningful push afoot to implement statewide “right to repair” laws that try to make it cheaper, easier, and environmentally friendlier for you to repair the technology you own. Unfortunately, while all fifty states have at least flirted with the idea, only Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Minnesota, Colorado, California, Oregon, and Washington have actually passed laws. Passage can be a challenge due to the relentless lobbying of numerous industries that…

Maybe these need to be put on a few menus/supermarket walls. These are from the UK National Food Strategy, showing the proportion of UK land used for different things (huge for beef/lamb, tiny for crops), & where we get our calories and protein (68% & 52% from plants). The difference is staggering.
