Commonwealth Court rules the state constitution includes a fundamental right to abortion • Pennsylvania Capital-Star Susan Frietsche, of the Women’s Law Project, said the Medicaid coverage exclusion was the single largest barrier to abortion access in Pa.

This is a wonderful decision for Pennsylvania! And calling abortion a fundamental right is a satisfying slap in the face to the extremists on the Supreme Court.

One father killed himself as a result. My therapist cared for some of the families and first responders; there was a lot of trauma that day to try and deal with. Nothing can prepare you. My kids were fine, in lock down at a nearby school. If someone told me my murdered kid was fake I’d 100% snap.

For comparison, years ago I worked for a big buy-side fund manager. I had to notify the desk if i wanted to trade anything, and if we were trading that name i could not. If i traded and the firm did something in the same name, my trade was broken and any profits went to charity. 1/

An old Jaguar XK chassis in primer.

An old Jaguar XK chassis in primer.

Agreed, they’re wonderful :) i wound up in a Spitfire 1500, added HS4s, headers, shaved the head and installed 9:1 pistons. Nothing like a very light sports car. I worked at a resto shop for a few years, heres one XK we rebuilt waiting for paint.
Were the cross-ply tires (tyres?) easier to turn?

None of the classic uk sports cars had power steering afaik, and tires were so narrow it didn’t matter. E-types didn’t have it either (maybe near the end of the run?)

At least in an XK you always look like Clark Gable ;)

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Pardon my neophyte wish-casting but imagine a world where a highly flexible and lower cost treatment tech reduces costs esp in expensive edge cases (where costs are disproportionate) while also providing a possible treatment for some cancers. I can’t imagine not funding it.
