The courage of Dolores Huerta is humbling.

The Iranian regime has destroyed the lives of people I care deeply about. Today my heart is with them.
My heart was back in British Columbia today
Ian McKellen as Shakespeare's Thomas More, followed by I'm With Her's Obvious Child cover? Incredible. I'm already missing Colbert.
congratulations!
Forced labour, residential schools, separation of children and parents, mass "forced marriage," totalized surveillance, and more. We all know what to call this, right?
As Shawn Fain and the UAW continue to betray Canadian workers and enthusiastically empower Trump, look for your union allies elsewhere. Like Michigan: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Can I ask how you did this? Do you have someone cut out part of the side of the tub?
Thinking of your mom tonight. May she be recovered and out leading anti-Musk protests in short order.
Just got my first unhinged anti-semitic email: "People don't hate you because you're Jewish. They hate you because you're inhuman." I'll add it the file of misogynist emails collected over years of teaching in women's studies.
Can we all just stop pretending that @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social is social democratic? A shameful government in this province.
These problems of violence, government intransigence, and lack of transparency define BC political culture, and not just in the health sector. ‘Social democracy’ in this province is performative. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
It has been eye opening to see the willingness of (the big) American unions throw the most vulnerable workers under the bus. Those of us who have benefitted from being unionized: we must do better than this. dwww.labornotes.org/blogs/2025/02/internatio...
Let's stand in solidarity with @unifor.org - a union that actually understands the meaning of solidarity (unlike..ahem..the Trump cheerleading union to the south of us).
Um, isn't blackmail illegal? Also, can I just vent at Peter McKay for selling out the PC's to this nonsense?
The @uaw.org should take a page from Greenland's book. Collaboration is an ugly look for a union that cheers on Trump while it claims to stand for social justice (note: they're delusional if they think Trump will deliver union jobs).
Good grief -Trump doesn't know the difference between liberals and the Liberal Party and Poilievre is hoping Canadians don't know the difference either.
Another case of what appears to be illegal detention and possibly torture by US border officials. Not surprised: this was telegraphed and celebrated during the election campaign. Many Americans chose actively - and passively- for this outcome.
Delighted to see Miller out of cabinet after his role in decimating the post-secondary sector across Canada.
Tough to compete with a Chinese auto industry that uses enslaved labour - particularly Uyghurs in Xinjiang - at all levels of production. Some good reporting from Human Rights Watch on this issue.
Gorgeous! Not going to lie, that made me cry just a little bit.
Great list! If you are looking for beautiful Canadian made furniture try Huppe (QC); for women’s clothing buy Comrags (Toronto). Just bought a gorgeous duvet cover from Au Lit (sewn in Montreal). Searched hard for organic sweet relish and found the excellent Sunshine Farms (ON)
Just a reminder that those of us with MacBooks and iPhones and all things Apple - and I include myself here - are complicit in China’s ongoing genocide of Uyghurs. Not sure the answer but it’s a reminder to stop it with the self-righteous politics www.wired.com/story/apple-...
Absolutely pathetic. Remember that many unions have long histories of racist, misogynist, and anti-immigrant politics, often couched - like this statement - in a populist language that echoes the hard right. www.theguardian.com/us-news/live...
One thing I’ll never forgive Bernie for is his normalization of Tulsi Gabbard.
The refusal of so many Americans to acknowledge the stakes in this election is not something I'll ever forget. The stink of their failure to act in the face of what was knowable and preventable will sit on them for generations.
Just listened to Trump and Vance at this meeting and they can only be understood as narcissistic sociopaths. Shame on them; shame on every American who voted for them, or sat this election out to give Biden the finger, or saw "no difference" between Trump and Harris.
On "taking the long road" in our complicated human connections. This book sounds like something everyone should read at this moment.
This, a thousand times this.
