Yesterday we grieved. Today we act.

Congress stripped protections from the Boundary Waters. Now we fight back.

Every dollar is doubled by a $150,000 match to pressure the Walz administration to cancel Twin Metals’ leases.

Some large storms forming along a strong cold front that'll impact the twin cities later this morning (mid-morning we'll call it). Temperatures plummet later today after a warm start. #mnwx

This bill is America Last.

Copper ore will be mined from Minnesota, shipped to state-owned Chinese companies for smelting, and sold to the highest bidder on the global market.

Republicans sold out the American people to benefit foreign corporate interests.

🚨 BREAKING: The Senate passed H.J. Res. 140, gutting Boundary Waters protections. This sets a dangerous precedent for public lands nationwide. We’re not done fighting. There are still paths to stop this mine. We'll keep you posted today about what this means and how you can get involved.

The Senate took a reckless action. This hurts.

225,000 acres impacted
650,000 public comments ignored
A foreign mining company now has a clear path forward

We’re angry. Not done.

A $150,000 match is live. Every dollar is doubled to power the fight ahead.

The vote to open mining immediately adjacent to the Boundary Waters + within the watershed seems to have passed, with a 50-49 vote, with Collins and Tillis the only R's to vote no. This moves it to a state of MN issue, and hopefully @governorwalz.mn.gov can find a way to protect from MN side.

Of all the places we have in this country, this place has such special meaning. It is a sacred place, and we will never stop defending it. Thank you, Mr. President. I yield the floor."

And I want everyone to know whatever the outcome of this vote this afternoon that we will not stop fighting and we will not stop our work to protect the Boundary Waters.

I'm thinking about the hunting and fishing groups. I'm thinking about the outdoor groups. I'm thinking about the Minnesota citizens and American citizens. I'm thinking about all of the tribal leaders and members who have made your voices heard.

🧵Thank you @smith.senate.gov! Sen. Smith in closing: "I want to speak directly to the Minnesota people, who care so much about the Boundary Waters, and who care so much about the precious places we have all over this country. You have organized. You have made calls. You have sent messages.

Also, thanks to @baldwin.senate.gov who's speaking right now. I believe I missed @amyklobuchar.com, who also has spoken in support of protecting the Boundary Waters.

225,000 ACRES OF PUBLIC LANDS AT RISK. Senate votes tomorrow on HJR 140. It would strip protections from the Boundary Waters watershed and open the door to toxic sulfide mining near one of the most protected wilderness areas in the country. Call your Senators: 202-224-3121

Looks like we might get more than just sprinkles in Minneapolis and St Paul. Likely to be some drizzle but also light to moderate rain, and a few claps of thunder.

Amazing video of tornado west of Amby, MN around 6:30 p.m. from MPR News photojournalist Ben Hovland. Ben reports tornado lifted west of Amboy thankfully. Tennis ball sized hail with that storm!

FYI for the Twin Cities, because the storms are forming to our south and moving east, there's a chance we won't get storms at all tonight. A sprinkle maybe? Then next rain chance arrives Wednesday.
