I respect these people & their intentions, & also, standing up for the values they mention here is <entirely a partisan project> in 2026. One day, we might have multiparty democracy with multiple pro-democracy parties. Right now, there is only one party that supports democracy & these values.
“RFK is a eugenicist who believes that people with chronic health conditions deserve to die preventable deaths” is a plain fact that the news media cannot or will not tell the public.
this was trump 1.0's crowning achievement, an absolutely towering accomplishment that will likely lead directly to curing many cancers, and he's pissed on it and intends to bury it because he's senile and stupid and made a devil's bargain with the granola fascists. unreal.
Nothing to worry about, just the Heritage Foundation publishing an article on how the Republican Congress can refuse to seat Democrats www.heritage.org/election-int...
i was wondering whether 2026 or 2028 would be the flashpoint
Technology enthusiasts frame the harm of tech as an unfortunate but inevitable collateral of progress: “You can’t make a tech omelette without breaking a few eggs.”
What Marx revealed was that the destabilizing effect of “progress”’was not an unfortunate accident, it was the real window of profit.
A huge problem in Bed-Stuy, where I live, is deed theft. A very organized and courageous group is bringing attention to this, but the battle is hard.
Last week, they arrested a victim of this, district leader candidate Carmella Charrington. This morning, they arrested our CITY COUNCIL MEMBER.
I still can't believe "Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen" is an actual Trump quote. I would swear it's a Dril tweet. Or a broad parody of Trump

So they're going to need a 'fight' president and they're going to need a working 'fight' caucus that can wield a democratic majority.
And I think there's a good chance the voters will give it to them.

Nothing subtle or complicated about what's happening. Did I mention the only refugees we're taking from the entire world are white people from South Africa?
Slight variant on "guess this guy just likes vacuums": I read After Virtue (got it from thriftbooks), and put a bunch of other MacIntyre books in my amazon cart. Now amazon keeps recommending After Virtue, like someone who wants to read the less famous books hasn't read it
Louise Lucas deserves a statue. Replace every confederate statue left in Virginia with Louise just off aura alone.

You know what Geese really reminds me of, the National
REDISTRICT EVERYTHING
ESCALATE TO DE-ESCALATE
GERRYMANDER EVERY SINGLE STATE IMMEDIATELY
CREATE A DELICATE BALANCE OF TERROR NOW
RESTORE DETTERENCE
(That's not quite true, but two of the three who were really Life of the Mind people are dead now, which is a crazy mortality rate)
I think this was one of the two big barriers to doing serious reading as a teenager (the other was time, I was overcommitted between classes and extracurriculars). There was no one else who cared about books!
did not know the source of this phrase
that time Elissa Slotkin scared that tracker to actual death by knowing his dog's name has now officially been surpassed as the coldest thing a Democratic former spy has done in politics
Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.
if we can do it in Virginia we can do it in New York
fewer than 1% of americans alive have ever seen an administration as disliked as this one will be by this time next year
