Another wonderful author is Michael Ondaatje. He's most famous for The English Patient, which is historical fiction, and romance. I also really loved In Th Skin Of A Lion, also historical fiction, and Running In The Family, which is autobiographical.

I'm sorry for your loss. One book I heartily recommend is A Confederacy of Dunces. Set in New Orleans, it follows an absurd busy body know-it-all as he leaves chaos in his wake. It is hilarious, absurd, and utterly charming while providing insights into the city.

I should point out that this was a UFO cult called Morningland (now rebranded as The Monastery). They all dressed the same (sort of like the white outfits in Logan's Run), and ate 'space food.' According to ex-members, the founder's mortal remains were stored there (illegally).

I have friends, two sisters, who were abandoned to a cult by their mother. They lived in the compound from 8-18. At 18 they were given an ultimatum: Have sex with the leader, or leave. I met them when they left and what surprised me most was their complete ignorance of how the world actually worked.

I like all of these, but the second one feels so dynamic.

Yesterday, I went to a German market, ate at a French restaurant, then had Turkish coffee. Today, I'm doing food prep for a potluck tomorrow, then gallery sitting, then dinner with my wife. At the gallery, I will be joined by some noise friends. We are also in the midst of a heat wave.🥵
