I think that's the biggest thing for me. Windows feels insulting to use because it's not made for me but for some execs and their KPIs. Linux has a lot of issues too, but they're usually technical and I don't feel like a product

Going out on a limb here, it might have done a kernel update but didn't have /boot mounted at the time, so it created a kernel image that doesn't support mounting FAT32 filesystems? 🙃
If you manually try to run "mount /boot" does it say something about not recognizing vfat as a filesystem?

It's inconsistent but opening posts occasionally has me wait seconds for the replies to load

Almost all logs eventually go through journald (I think?)
I just made it a habit to check that whenever something silently fails

I know you'll hate this, and a normal user shouldn't have to deal with this, but I wonder if you get any useful hints in the logs if you run "journalctl -f" in a terminal while it crashes

No idea if that's any similar, but for some Windows games, I either needed to install 100 extra libraries for them to work with Wine, or I used Proton (which is Wine + those 100 libraries bundled together). Just a wild guess though, I don't run much besides games under Wine
