A big problem with Taiwan is aversion to spontaneity and fun - speaking as someone who’s also been shunned on the MRT for light sparring, silly little dances, and sitting on the ground, which are all harmless activities that some people or security guards strongly oppose to

my sex drive is back. the cartoons from 6 months ago made me laugh and think "great material for my next comedy show" (i moonlight as a stand-up outside of my china analysis role), so no need to feel sorry for me. mainly writing to let people know this is a thing

i am remembering hearing about a scholar who studies the Uyghur region having raped two women in a part of the world he'd never been to

remembering the prominent female uyghur activist accused of orgies and the damaging effect it had on her within her conservative community

this week, i learned that yet another china/rights NGO has been targeted by AI-produced porn

i am frankly a little triggered and remembering all the times chinese male intellectuals/dissidents were accused of rape, and all the female intellectuals/dissidents accused of whoring

fast forward to august 2024. i learned from a friend/colleague that two employees at a china/rights NGO were targeted by AI-produced porn

i reached out to them. both were hesitant to share things on the record, or even chat on background

it's happened to me too. i was presenting evidence at the Uyghur Tribunal, and in the live tweets section, which was projected onto a big screen, someone was flooding us with photos of me learning pole dance

2023, i ran into @juliemillsap.bsky.social at a human rights conference. as i complained about the state's seeming fascination with destroying women's credibility via slut-shaming, julie said something along the lines of:

a few months before that clip, the chinese government or their contractor released a documentary series documenting my purported rich sex life. this ended up being traumatizing because the chinese government collected male names from my real life by grilling and psychologically torturing my friend

accompanied by national-scale slut-shaming (i wrote about uyghurs and forced labor and was then branded traitor to the chinese nation/race), the clip caused prolonged aversion to even the idea of sex and what i call Psychological Castration. perhaps not intended by the state, but that was the result

where users claimed that i was the female protagonist. of course, i was not her. she was some random asian girl posting on Onlyfans

the clip was repeatedly posted in the comment section of my tweets, sent to my DMs, and circulated on twitter widely. within days, the clip became burned into my brain
