Mamdani must explain his tweet from 1740 BC claiming that Ea-nāṣir had "high quality copper"
It's pretty revealing that when the left talks about tyranny we are referring to anonymous government agents snatching people off the streets and stuffing them into unmarked vans, and when the right talks about tyranny they just mean taxes

as for the upshot of the decision, the republican court has put the citizen children of non-citizens in a position similar to that of free blacks during the antebellum period. their right to enjoy the privileges and immunities of american citizenship will vary according to state borders
An illustration of a relatively young Emma Goldman, facing forward, in shades of purple, wearing her pince-nez glasses. It is against a darker purple background and she is decorated with two red botanical designs.
Happy birthday, Emma Goldman! On this day in 1869, the Lithuanian Jewish anarchist-feminist writer, philosopher and agitator was born. 🏴

@kathleenbelew.bsky.social didn't realize you're on bsky but i am once again hyping your work :)
huge shoutout to kathleen belew whose book Bring the War Home taught me about the fort smith trial. it's an incredible read.
but what really happened was a bunch of white women mobilized public opinion and gave cover to the idea of defending white women and children. two of the jurors started dating defendents after the trial! anyway, a bad jury doesn't mean a bad case, FBI try again in 2025 challenge.
the Covenant, the Sword and the Arm of the Lord, the group on trial, used the trial victory as propaganda and recruitment material as did other white supremacist groups. it was a disaster for the FBU from every possible angle and they felt they had overreached by trying to prosecute on conspiracy.
the forth smith trial was a huge defeat for attempts to seriously prosecute white supremacist attempts to overthrow the state. the jury acquitted for "lack of evidence". newspapers ran photos of women jumping into their newly freed white terrorist husbands' arms.
this is true AND it's not unique to garland - refusing to prosecute white supremacist networks became SOP after the FBI got their asses handed to them in court in arkansas in 1987 by a racist jury. the wives of the accused helped too, as white women often do, by crying directly into the cameras.
