I participated to a collage workshop yesterday and I made this character. I have no idea what this is, open to interpretation I guess...

Another thing you can do is multiplying the sources for putting you out there:
-A socmed feed for showcasing experimentation, sketches, daily tests. Allows for building presence and connection with audience
- A "masterpiece" portfolio = shortlist of your best work, tailored

Having a polyvalent portfolio ready tp go is great if you're not specifically aiming at "THIS" job offer, but just want to have a presence online

Another advice is to tailor your portfolio for the position you're aiming at. If you want to become a character artist, you might want to build the portfolio mostly around showing character design.
Puting environment art or Graphic design in the middle shows you are polyvalent can be distracting

Also...For game artists - especially in 3D - showing process, workflow, breakdowns - demonstrating mastery of the entire pipeline is sometimes more important than showing the final result. (Concept, Wireframes/topology, turntable, material pass, UV unwrap, render in engine etc)

So...No slideshows, complicated transition, carroussel, music, or Fluff - UNLESS it's for a web graphic designer application - where obviously you would be evaluated on these kind of things :D

When reviewing game artist portfolios, most recruters don't care much about the website and framing around.
Main thing for them is accessing the artworks as fast as possible, with as little distraction as possible. Sometimes just a basic gallery with big images is enough. Focus on the content!

Hey artists! Next Tuesday, Apr 14, is #PortfolioDay! I thought it would be fun to do a little knowledge sharing for the art community ☺️

What are your top tips for building a professional art portfolio? How do you approach it differently if it's digital or physical?

About #sora I almost feel sad for all the "AI-Artists" who are at risk of losing a good 17 minutes of work on their latest generated video. Let's go easy on them please...

This Sunday I did some Linocut and Copper engraving workshop in #Strasbourg at the Poisson Baliste atelier. It was refreshing to do this again. I made a Mosshorn from #Hytale and a very gloomy landscape.

Whenever folks ask me about portfolios, I show them this video.

In 52 seconds I can see what André is good at. I understand what he is good at. If I need to hire someone who understands game feel, and who can build that on their own, I will interview him.

I know this in 52 seconds.

C'est vrai qu'on y allait planqués, avec les collègues d'Hytale...trop honte de pas sortir notre jeu assez vite, tout ça tous ça. on marchait la tête baissée, le regard fuyant, etc.

A great article about our game #Hytale and my artwork on the front page of @canardpc.com , a French gaming magazine I’ve been buying since I was a kid.

This is very true. it modifies people's attitude toward someone's Instagram story because they know you will know they saw it...there's some kind of meta game of people sending shit messages to each other's without communicating properly
