After official retirement and switching to on-line adjuncting 1 or 2 courses (@ Walmart wages, just for the fun of teaching), savings accounts were up, CC balances and expenses down, & more time for both life and work (even though our income was roughly 75% of pre-retirement). My wife worked for a principal in Philly who use an aggressive style of "prayer": asking the deity to "help" various faculty members (by name) with their "struggles" and burdens. Of course, this was a Mennonite school, and not a public school, so that praying per se was not banned. But still...
