200 Hours
200 Hours
Once again, the time has come
My goal of doing 200 hours worth of gesture drawing in 2025 is complete! 2026, I'm putting my new shorthand to the test and getting back to animating for myself
My contribution for a reverse telephone comic hosted by Kuosketch on Instagram, had a lot of fun it!
Might find a way to introduce it into my workflow, maybe sketch with the tablet, go over it with the mouse to add some chaos, return to the tablet to refine and render
Growing to love drawing with a mouse, the accuracy is non existent and it looks shit from any technical metric, but like there's this resistance that a mouse on the mouse pad has that you don't get from a pen on a glass screen that produces some really fun and energetic marks

Been sitting on this part for The Freefall Collab 3 for the better part of a year now and I'm happy to finally be able to post it! Thanks to Lunsar for getting me out of retirement and having me on, it was a ton of fun. Highly recommend checking out the full collaboration, it turned out incredibly
If you visit the site, you can tell the inventor is kind of eccentric, and I haven't actually seen one of these in person, but the concept is cool and one day I'd love to try one out solarbacklight.com
Tangentially, I also stumbled on this interesting open source hardware project called SpectrumView which is a monitor that promises less eye strain and a wider more vivid gamut of colors than what LCD monitors can produce through the use of incandescent lightbulbs.
Just found out about this really interesting software called refractify which claims to be able to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) from computer screens through a special filter. No clue if it works, but the concept is really neat refractify.io

Found another gesture drawing channel, almost as good as Croquis Cafe but without the paywall www.youtube.com/@GESDRAWPART...
Just finished watching Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski on Netflix and I highly recommend it, it's an incredible story
Found out about Stanislaw Szukalski earlier while reading Weirdo and I've become absolutely obsessed, this guy is genuinely one of the most interesting people, let alone greatest sculptors and draftsman to have ever lived and somehow hardly anyone has heard of him
Thanks! I think it took me like 2 hours
wait wtf animation is actually fun??
holy shit it's projared!
Oh my god it's snowing in New Orleans, it's only happened like one other time in my life. Merry Christmas, you know things are dire when hell's freezing over (and I love it)
it really feels like a fully realized version of this old series by Alpha-Nuva on Newgrounds called Stainville. The humor and animation style at times is a total dead ringer. I wonder if Cusack saw it at some point
Finally watched through Yolo Crystal Fantasy and I cannot believe what I've been sleeping on. The animation walks a really fine line between being some of the worst and best I've been in a TV show, it's so weird and unique.
it's finally time I make the folder
