Just caught a photo on BBC news of ‘the working royals’. Immediately thought- ‘Well, they’ve got a problem! Virtually all of them WELL past retirement age.’ Guess we taxpayers need to consider lowering their retirement age- birth, maybe?

Whatever spin is put on this, the whole issue reads like an episode of ‘Yes, Minister’.Starmer is either duplicitous or incompetent. If he stays, it’s because there’s no one judging it time to put their head above the dyke right now. He’s prepared to sacrifice for his sins,so…loyalty? None due.
I didn’t realise that.
You are defining needs for others. Making judgement calls .
No to all of these. Individuals can do so though, if they wish. Preferably without others making judgement calls on them for doing so. Being parsimonious is never a good look.
Applies to Scotland too
That should be illegal itself. Baillie needs to be arrested if she can’t validate the assertion of criminality.

So much tidier. Hope there’s labels, too.
‘Temu Lex Luther’😂
You are missing the point. But it’s interesting you feel she ‘has no excuse’ for not knowing how to perform some random skill that you have chosen for her. To whom would she offer an excuse? Who would decide on the acceptability of same?
Oh dear. I am not about to give my personal details on a social media site to some random stranger, even if I felt the need to validate my comments. And you, random stranger, have felt it acceptable to suggest that I am lying about my experience. At this point, our discussion is over.
I never said non cursive writing is poor. And to be clear, poor handwriting for me is about legibility:it’s not a value statement. My Dr’s writing is not cursive, but it’s poor(I get why!)For me, handwriting is like accents-some folk understand some better than others;some make unfair value judgements.
I agree with you that dyslexia makes any ‘joined up’ writing generally more difficult to read- just as blue or blank ink on white paper can be difficult for many with dyslexia. Calligraphic fonts vary dramatically in ease of reading from individual to individual and are in limited use.
I do have lots of experience dealing with handwriting, which suggests I am not an outlier. The fact that YOUR handwriting is defined as awful yet better than calligraphy by others may mean you are an outlier yourself. It does not make my opinion ‘objectively’ wrong.
For speedy note taking that remained legible, cursive was speedier, but with my large ‘hand’ neither is more space efficient. As for the ‘ pointless’ comment,I think we could discuss that.As a form of communication, handwriting needs to be legible. But if someone finds it hard,it may be their problem.
I was taught cursive writing, then my school adopted the new ‘modern’ hand. Having experience of both, and of a job where I had to read a great many handwritten pieces, I can assure you that I find both equally easy to read. Poor handwriting is always difficult to read, no matter the style.
If it’s not work- related, it can be ignored or closed down, but someone could always take time to show them what to do and encourage them to take notes to remind them.
I would be interested in whether there has been training offered on that skill. I know from experience in my workplace that when computers were introduced ( many decades ago) there was NO training given. Most colleagues had no knowledge at all. ( ie what was a mouse and how did it work?)
‘Should’? My mum was well into her 70s when she got a mobile. She went into a shop and bought a pay-as-you-go. She still had a landline ( that’s basic). She used to work in a drawing office, using ink on stiffened muslin to create architects drawings. Could you do that? Ink and a surface are basic…
Potentially interesting comment…. In what way does it ( cursive writing?) suck?
I love the way WM leaders come to Scotland at election times etc to offer support- but only on condition that they don’t actually come into contact with the general public of Scotland. Those obliged to behave or lose their job, offering a photo op? General voters? No chance.
My dentist reckons it’s better for your teeth to eat sweet stuff in a oner rather than eat the same sweet stuff over a period. So you are actually being virtuous😇
The deadline for registering to vote in the Scottish election is midnight tomorrow (20 April). Many 16 & 17 year olds are not registered. Anyone over 16 resident in Scotland can vote in Scottish elections, you don't have to be a UK citizen. You can register online here

A strong Plaid, fighting for its rights within WM, would have the support of the SNP, and would offer support in its turn. On some issues they would align and that means a stronger voice on those issues.
Wales’ decision. Scotland and Wales may both be ignored and voiceless in the UK and can each offer considerable support to each other on shared issues, but Scotland’s position within the UK is historically different from that of Wales and shouldn’t be subsumed to a matter of Devolution./
This is a well-documented pattern in medical research and reflects systemic gender bias in pain assessment and treatment.👇
Darn- I was so pleased at the 2nd vote Indy , I skipped over that. Thank you. Will delete my post and lick my wounds.
It’s a stated objective of the party. Voters know that. Just like the Tory party will claim a vote for them is a vote for the Union. That’s why I vote SNP, not Tory.
