I am only telling you that the government has said. I do not condone it.

The museum is not reluctant to return the fossil. The state government considers the specimen state property and does not allow it to be returned.

Dale thought that traditional reconstructions were too bulky.

Dale Russell had this bizarre notion of emaciated dinosaurs, which Ely ended up painting. Ely was an artist, not a researcher.

It is always just a hypothesis, not a fact.

Don‘t forget his cunning analysis of the ‘Nanotyrannus’ issue, which will leave dino bros slack-jawed.

All of us were worried about the situation until the ICZN provided a statement about procedure.

AI cooks up the craziest stuff now when you try to google a term.

If the paper has been released online the names are valid provided they have been registered on ZooBank.

I undetstand the perception of COI but I should be allowed to correct mistakes that someone made when they wrote the page. I will just drop my page.

I have done a lot of editing of paleo content - free of charge!

… for a mere $600! Supposedly I cannot edit it myself because the monitors might not accept my corrections. So Wikipedia is free but you have to pay a hefty charge to get your entry corrected!

I just learned something that might interest at least some of you. Today I received a message that my Wikipedia page has unspecified ‘multiple problems.’ (I should note that I have no idea who created it originally!) I was told that I should get a professional edit…

The PhyloCode won‘t fix such nonsense. No expert has taken Kischlat‘s ‘replacement’ of the prefectly valid nomen Prestosuchus seriously.

Sadly, no. I speak from extensive firsthand experience. Historian friends tell me the same story. Never let facts stand in the way of a movie script!

Please let me know of I can help with literature etc.

We now have received the two amazing skulls of Nyctosaurus from a wonderful donor.

I get such garbage daily - some of the ‘journal’ titles are hilarious.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Yes, it is. The ICZN does not consider names of fantasy creatures at all relevant. You could legitimately name a new genus of tardigrade Godzilla. I just recently dealt with this issue.

It is a brilliant book, which I heartily recommend to all VP aficionados.

Sadly, they won’t listen to expert advice if it doesn‘t fit their ideas.

It probably depends how far it has developed from prior art.
