happy to see this *and* there are plenty of minneapolis police officers yet to be criminally charged for firing less-lethal rounds that struck people in the face, head, or eyes in may 2020

Top architecture firm won’t design more ICE prisons after employees revolt They thought their firm focused on humane design. Then they learned of the private detention center contract.

SCOOP: One of the nation's top "justice facility" architecture firms will no longer work on ICE detention centers or deportation facilities after its employees staged a revolt.

“I think what ICE is doing is the worst thing America has probably done since the internment camps during World War II.”

Important ruling on immigration operations in Minnesota

Judge Tostrud (Trump appointee):

"Plaintiffs have made a clear showing that Defendants have adopted a POLICY authorizing federal immigration officers to conduct investigatory stops based on ethnicity or race without reasonable suspicion."

Enbridge paid police to protect one pipeline. Now it wants to do it again in Wisconsin. The Bad River Band is fighting to stop Line 5 and protect its watershed. Meanwhile, local sheriffs are already tallying the cost of riot gear.

My latest for @grist.org: Pipeline giant Enbridge will pay for police to respond to potential Indigenous-led protests as it begins construction of the controversial Line 5 reroute around the Bad River reservation

Documenting ICE in St. Cloud, MN: January 13, 2026 YouTube video by GoFourthMedia

Here's a short video about media documenting ICE in St. Cloud. While they were observing, federal agents called the St. Cloud police on them for "harassment and stalking." With assistance from a colleague, I sent a letter to the St. Cloud police and they backed down 🎥🍿

I’m leaving Minneapolis after an inspirational @npapjustice.bsky.social training yesterday for lawyers here-and around the country-on use of the Federal Tort Claims Act to hold ICE and CBP accountable for their rampant misconduct.

JUST IN: Judge Schiltz cancels Friday’s contempt hearing but lights into ICE, saying the agency may have violated more court orders this month than many others have in their entire existence.

After a judge granted our habeas petition & ordered Pam Bondi, et al. to release our client, I emailed opposing counsel to ask where and when the client would be released. Opposing counsel began their reply by saying they "have resigned from the [United States Attorney's Office] effective tomorrow"

Steph Curry on watching the protests from his hotel window: "In negative 10-degree weather. It was beautiful to see that turnout. That speaks to how important people felt to have their voice heard. In those elements and whatever streets outside our hotel, they were out, and it was amazing to watch."

I filed my first petition for a writ of habeas corpus on Tue., because ICE abducted a great-grandmother in the Twin Cities. On Wed., the court ordered that Pam Bondi, et al. not move my client out of the State of MN. On Thurs., the court ordered that my client be released. Then yesterday, she was!!!
