If years of reading royal bios have taught me anything, it's that there are always hordes of people around any court who firmly believe protecting the facade of monarchy is way more important than the well being or even lives of the actual humans involved.

I'm guessing the Queen Mother's evil father is bumping people off to maintain his own family's power behind the throne. Pure speculation on my part.
That's definitely how I interpreted it.
I was worried they were going down the road of, she and I-An were in love but she was chosen to marry his older brother--or picked his brother to be queen. I even wondered if maybe the little king was I-an's bio son. But that seems way too dark and heavy for a 12-ep rom com...even a Korean one!
The minute he casually talked about adding his "lady" to his household I was DOA.

Look, I always find the product placements hilarious, even when they don't mean to be. But I-an showing up at a random franchise in a pristine white silk suit and ordering the "Seduce the Prince" combo was genuinely funny. Way to lean in to the ridiculousness, Subway. #PerfectCrown #kdrama
They are so delicious, and I'm not a coffee drinker. I like the little round cappuccino ones!
Same here! As you say, #cdramas are also excellent and you can get like 32-40 episodes. #kdramas are sadly trending toward fewer episodes (thanks to Netflix choking the local show making industry out) but cdramas still have looooong game.
Amen.
Re-upping for no particular reason. 🤣
When I think that I used to watch TV shows at the glacial pace of one episode per week for an entire calendar year, and now the thought of getting 12 episodes over roughly 30 days is making me nuts!
I'm so sorry.
Just started #PerfectCrown and holy bananas is Byeon Woo Seok attractive. It's honestly distracting. And if there's one trope that has me in a total chokehold it's 'I can only sleep peacefully when you are near.' Waiting for the show to annihilate me.
In addition to what I posted yesterday, she said he was volatile and difficult to work with--though she added that in her mind, what was important was not how he behaved in private (shouting, throwing chairs) but that his intensity got to him to a place of acting brilliance once cameras rolled.
Lol also zero private circles. Never even used DMs on this app. I watched the video interview with the NYT. I'm not a passionate LD hater as many are, but I don't understand the obsessive need to document/publicize every private thought/action ever taken in your life. Particularly involving others.
I wasn't aware of it at the time but I'm seeing people now saying there was reported tension on the set when JT did her brief guest appearance--which I had completely forgotten about. And that the cast attended their wedding but Lena posted something that seemed like shade the next day. Yikes.
Q: He gets there and calls you and you don’t answer because you’re apprehensive about the emotional fallout of sleeping together. You were worried about possible 'humiliation.' Why was humiliation what you were worried about happening there?
A: I was worried about humiliation happening everywhere.
Q: "There’s this scene in the book involving you and Adam where it seems like the idea of having a sexual relationship was in the air. You make a plan for him to come to your apartment, and he says yes — this is in your telling."
A: [Playfully] "What are you talking about? That’s not in the book."
I just watched the Lena Dunham NYT interview. I haven't read her memoir. But the interviewer asked about a time when Adam Driver came to her apartment so they could sleep together? She said she decided not to answer the door because she was worried about humiliation? Wasn't he w/JT since Juilliard?!
Are you a fan of the band BTS? You may have seen a teaser video last month for the band's new album, "Arirang," which shares its name with a beloved Korean folk song. The video alluded to the first recording ever made of that song, a nearly 130-year-old wax cylinder preserved here at the Library. 🧵

"[O]ne of the most formidable clandestine political influences in the US. Its US members would become crucial in eroding reproductive rights, funding the Washington march that led to January 6, and heavily influencing Project 2025..."
Is this why Vance is yapping about his Catholicism everywhere?!
The absolute chaos of Hobi's Haunted Hospital will never be matched. 🤣🤣🤣
Just started #PursuitofJade so I read about the "pretty general" flap before watching. I'm only 25% thru but so far the poor boy is getting the @#$% kicked out of him on the regular. Are we sure the patriarchy isn't actually mad because he's a willing bottom who acknowledges the existence of pads?
Yes, this is precisely what I mean. Anyone saying it's darker or more hip hop (lol) has clearly never listened to a single BTS album.
